Blu Ray, upscaling (best to train an AI maybe

), and maybe interpolating where only 1 frame is missing in low movement scenes might be an idea. Sure a hell of a lot of work ahead.

I've been editing away hard the last few days and I've now got a basic "grindhouse" version ready.
I just need to do a few prettying things like adding a title card and masking off the slivers of previous/next frames visible at the top/bottom of the picture. I won't crop it anywhere near as much as it would have been in the cinema so there will still be plenty of extra image at the edges.
I'll also need to resync the Russian soundtrack now I've cut off all the extra lead in/outs for each reel.
So expect the "grindhouse" release sometime around this weekend.

Cool stuff. What do you mean by title card though?

I always put a title card at the start of my preservations to clarify that it's a fan work and to remind people to support official releases. It helps my conscience
It also helps me track render versions to make sure I always upload the latest one rather than a failed render.

I would leave that away personally, but it's your choice ofc. Don't think I've ever seen that on a fan restoration, only on fanedits (which your project isn't).

Interesting, never noticed that. Well I guess I stand corrected.

I wasn't think of giving as much information as the Indiana Jones example above, but I could add a bit of information about the print and the scan if people would be interested.
What do you think?
I've also been trying to come up with some sort of name for the full restoration project. Highlander isn't as popular as Star Wars so 2.5K91 doesn't make as much sense and is far less catchy.
H2HD?
