I'd love to contribute and/or get access to the MKV if possible. Anyone have any leads?

Hello!
My first post here - not sure of all details or protocols, so apologies in advance for any missteps. 1). I would love to contribute to the cause of scanning / rescanning THE KEEP. I just found out about these efforts yesterday. 2). Is the 'Grindhouse' scan online (I know there may be a new scan coming - I'm just super curious to see the 4K scan). I know it's a big file... Is it lingering online somewhere? Thanks a ton in advance or any response and help!

Hi also new here, came specifically for The Keep, if you are still planning on doing a rescan I'd be willing to chip in $100. Many praises for all your great work keeping these films alive

I'd like to link up to this either donation or otherwise. I started work on my own touch up, stabilizing the opening credits, color-timing certain scenes, etc but didn't get far. I also have the alternate ending recorded off a VHS from a 1980s broadcast. I have a bitperfect audio cap from the WS laserdisc as well.

After the long wait, I present you all the UHD HDR (1000 NIT) release of the 35mm rescan of The Keep!
I'm making the move to try and produce HDR content now since my mindset is it can always be tonemapped down to SDR (recommend linearly downscaling the luminance by 4x if you do) and I want to try and make as much use of the wider color gamut as possible. Granted, that latter point is not something you'd see really here given the scanner used for this, but the next time you see me release something from a higher-end machine, I'm sure it'll be something to behold in HDR. I tried to adjust each reel to look like the previous scan as far as balancing goes since that was a single continuous light all throughout but I wasn't able to match it exactly, so I apologize for some of the weirder color tintings. I imagine it'd look better if redone on a scanner that doesn't do that stupid reel-to-reel forced rebalancing but I don't think anyone clambering over themselves to fund a re-do. Anyways, included are numerous audio tracks (along with an English subtitle track):
If you've donated previously, please send me a message as I've been having a hard time keeping track of who helped out years ago. |
