There is no hard and fast rule on how to present 35mm on 70mm.
Some scope films were cropped (which was more common) others had small black bars at the top and bottom. Same thing goes for 1.85 movies, cropped or black bars on the sides. Both ways are correct. Thanks given by: CSchmidlapp , captainsolo
