Okay, no problem.
I was considering getting the old Japanes BD since I had gotten a freeleech period on the torrent site... but this looks like it's just going to be better.

Paramount plans to steam it in the new year. @paramountstudios

Hopefully we’re lucky with the Paramount encoding-roulette..!

I'm hoping too. The source Scan looks pretty nice, and looks much better than the Lionsgate Blu-ray

It's night and day. The Blu discs are just atrocious compared to this.

It has the paramount colour funk going on under the grain, and with that grain it will fall apart unless they put all the nitrate they can on it in the right places.
It needs the OG mix especially as the framing is wrong.

I'm betting it's still going to be 5.1 (since the film was mixed in 5.1), nothing too crazy. (Or were you referring to the original DTS mix and Dolby Stereo because those haven't been on a video release since the '90s)

It's not the channels it's the mix.
The shootout in top dollars loft is a mess in the new 5.1 mixes

So you want the original far-field 5.1 mix without having to resort to the cinema DTS or laser disc 5.1. Understandable, Spencer wants pretty much the SR, I think both should be preserved and both should be without pulling Paramount's teeth out. Considering the DP is overseeing the transfer, I think the director should have also overseeing the transfer as well to get it right.

Does the Collector's Series DVD have audio tracks you need? It had DTS & DD 5.1 as well as a 2.0 track.
