[Help] Amadeus (1984) 35mm Theatrical-Cut. Help Needed!
#21
Has anyone received a test sample from this project? Or any updates at all? I'm not trying to be rude or pushy, but this project has been in development for YEARS now and we haven't even received any test clips to see the quality. Only a few lone screenshots during the project proposal. I feel like if he isn't going to work on it, would be nice for him to at least provide that footage to us or someone who will be able to put more time and effort into it so that it's not just valuable materials sitting in limbo indefinitely.

Chiming in with an update @camskittles18 , this has been scanned and @freedomland has been at work on it. That being said, the fade is worse than expected. There is pretty bad color flicker and unlike a lot of faded films, one setting won’t help it.

@freedomland as the owner of the print and controller of the project has elected to try to get his fade correction in a very worked, meticulous place before release. That way, there’ll be one good release instead of a few prior grindhouse releases. It would be great if a better Amadeus could be scanned in the future; once a print is pretty far gone, it is a sad thing.

Flip side is that @freedomland is a busy guy personally so work progresses at the pace it progresses.

I’m not affiliated with this project in any capacity nor am I responsible for any of the decision making but @freedomland has generously helped me on other projects throughout the time that this project has been in the works. So just wanted to chime in since I know I’m probably online more than he is.

Thank you for that update! While I don't enjoy being that guy, I do find it quite annoying when a project gets off to an incredible start with lots of communication and requests for donations but then ends up fizzling out or a situation like this where there are almost NO updates. I completely understand people being busy and having lives. However, even if someone is going thru stuff, I hate when people try to avoid accountability with that excuse. When you take donations and money for a project, there's at least an expectation of communication. Even a bare minimum update every 3-6 months would be more favorable than this. Especially when they put SO much effort into trying to get awareness for the project and get donations. Comes off as a little scammy to me, personally. Just annoying is all.

make sure you use the JPN LD audio which is a big improvement over the US discs. there is a chance the ac3 mix on the later US release sounds good but i have not heard it. there's also an isolated score available.

I have the 1997 DVD if you don't have the audio tracks already.

I have different ones,  [PSE96-073],  [PILF-2216] this should be the japanese one you mentioned. These two were given to me yesterday by @stwd4nder2, thank you very much. I got also the older Laserdisc LV1791 by @Dr.Cooper (I suppose its from williarob but please correct me if its someone else)

i was referencing SF098-5062 which is probably the same as SF057-1774. no reason to include multiple versions of the same audio tracks is some just sound worse. i'd pick the best 2.0 mix and the best 5.1 mix + commentary.
