Arrow released the theatrical too.
Probably the best approach is to edit the extended version, and just add the missing footage from the theatrical (with some processing, shouldn't be too noticiable since if I'm not mistaken, the two small scenes are quite dark anyway).
Will wait to see how these releases look...

Is there any word on the 2.0 PCM? The video's lackluster, but it's possible that the audio fared better.

I was thinking about this today because I was cleaning my room out and found a copy of the theatrical DVD in a pile.
Has anyone seen any of the new releases the can comment?

Apart from the fact that the DE TC has the mattes opened to 1.78:1, it doesn't seem to differ much from the AUS BD. But given that the best version of the EE (the Warner US) is also 1.78:1, it's possibly the best source for the TC shots so far. Any news on the French BD? If it's like The Last of the Mohicans, it might be a better encoding.
Interestingly the NSM release uses the same master (cropped a bit differently) for both the EE and the TC. Perhaps they didn't have access to Warner's master.

Hi Chewtobacca!
I have the Aussie RH: PoT. While the PCM is not as good as the one from Last of the Mohicans (both Morgan Creek releases from around the same time and from the same distributor in Australia), it's a nice track on it's own.
LotM sounded stronger on LD as well, and by the look of them, these releases might be sourced from LD masters.
The 5.1 from both movies are worthless IMO and the same could be said for the non-TC versions. But man, RH: PoT PQ is a disaster, LotM looks like an UHD in comparison.
Just sent you both PCM tracks.
Edit: sanjuro_61, AFAIK, Arrow's release only contains the EC.

Yeah, it strikes me as a strong track, the best I've heard so far for this film.
Get it while it's hot!

It seems that what these Aussie releases gain in audio they lose in PQ. Still, we'll put all the pieces together eventually. It's just a matter of time.
EDIT: Here's the HDTV AC-3 for comparison.

Those HDTV peaks look crushed. Is that clipping?

It's a consequence of the bitrate of the AC-3 encoding. The HDTV track is the only other 2.0 track that I have for the TC.

Chew provide some scripts and x5 helped me tracked down some materials. With that in hand, I think I’m going to recreate the TC using the better extended cut master and fill in the missing parts with the Australian TC BD. Just to make something more watchable.

Sounds great! I did a quick-and-dirty render of the video script just because I wanted to watch the TC, and despite splicing in the shots from the AUS BD without color correction (or image enhancement), the results weren't half bad. Fortunately, the alternate shots are in dark, torchlit scenes.
