Yeah, "easy" doesn't usually play into the equation. If it did, this community wouldn't exist because anybody could do this stuff (or the studios would do it right themselves - can you imagine that? LOL)
If I may make a suggestion though, don't discard that "alternate" take and, maybe, include it as an extra for your project (as this would also help with preservation aspect) where you include (for example) 10 seconds prior/post the "alternate" shot and those that want to see it (or incorporate it into the footage) can do so easily. NOT trying to tell you what to do or give you more work, just a suggestion
I am also wondering if you couldn't overlay the BD footage over the telemundo for that shot to make it look a little better, since it (telemundo) has such high compression and that would easily take care of the logo.
