So it looks like the only thing that jedeitor and Andrea disagree on is whether to downmix the audio on the SD copyBig Grin

Thanx to jedeitor for pointing out a couple of things to me in a PM about what channel to post the trailer on youtube. I have created a new account and channel specifically for this project. Of course, the channel is called "We Are The Walking Dead"  Big Grin  Tongue  Big Grin

Here is the trailer for Part I:

Ok, some comments.

The start is better this way. The text fits very well.

I would change all dissolve effects for crossfades. The first ones aren't too noticeable and they kind of work, but the one at 1:16... I don't like it. I think we will never agree with this effects. LOL

The "Rick under the tank" scene recut looks great, but the gunshots still don't fit the "punches" (or whatever they are called) of the music. It would be great if you could make them fit (that was the reason for recutting the scene).

The rest works very well. Smile

Ok, I'm happy that, for the most part, you enjoyed the trailer.

I agree that the start makes more sense now and fits better -thanx for supplying the textWink

So I guess you're right that we will not agree on the dissolve effects. Granted, in the actual films they should be limited to one or none, but in the case of this trailer I thought they kind of worked. I tried to do direct-cuts or crossfades on ALL transitions but some of them just didn't match the music which was my "baseline" for transitions in video.

The "rick under tank" scene is NOT re-cut and is the same as it was before, just with the added gunshot sfx. The reason for this is because I noticed a "continuity" problem when trying to re-arrange the shots - it made NO sense to see walkers already dead in front of rick while he's shooting the one behind the first "layer" of walkers and THEN see him shot those walkers we already saw dead. I tried to see if I can shorten some of the shots to make them align with the "punches" in the music and I only achieved frustration and wasted a few hours trying to make it work. So I left the scene "as-is" and just inserted the gunshot sfx.

Glad you like the rest. I thought that the replacement footage I used for the scene where I originally had rick&merle fit a lot better with the "violent" uptempo of the music and now it seems like there is an overall "build up" and continuity of "theme" between video and audio. Anyway, I am DONE with this trailer when it comes to editing. It only took me a week, LOL Tongue

Now I have to "promote" the trailer somehow to get a wider audience for this project. I'm thinking of registering on some TWD forums and seeing if there would be any interest for this over there.

But first, I need to finish working on assembling all the foreign language tracks. I'm getting ready to scan through the film to identify exactly which parts have dialog that "bleeds" out of the center channel into the surrounds. Once I have those written down, I will edit those parts out and save each track as a "template" for all the foreign tracks. Then it's on to the "hard stuff" where I custom build the center channel for each language keeping only the dialog in-tact and replacing the rest with lossless audio from the English master. There are a couple more steps to making this work and sound right but I won't bore you with the detailsWink

I am hoping that I can have all of it assembled by this weekend or, at latest, by the beginning of next week. After that's finished, there's very little last minute stuff that needs to be done and then I can author the BD. I want to have this released before the month is over and actually start working on the second filmSmile

Oh, I remember it differently. Blush

You are right, the trailer already took too much time, so leaving it as is can be a good idea.

Well, the trailer is a "first impression" for a new audience of this project and I wanted it to be as good as I can make it. Could it be better? Probably. Is it bad? I don't think so, in fact, I'm kind of proud of it. This is the first time I have attempted to, not only make my own trailer, but to layer a custom music track over the "regular" audio and I think that the result is pretty decent Big Grin

well, some of you know "what time it is," LOL... I'll be back in a few hours with another status updateWink

side-note: I'm sure I can find numerous TWD forums on the internet (I have before) but can anyone recommend "a good one"/"popular one?"

No idea of TWD forums.

I use to visit 2 BD/DVD/TV spanish forums and each of them has a TWD thread. I can post the video there.
