Hello everyone, this is my first post and I'm happy to be part of this community.

I'm really into fan edits of some of my favorite films and recently I've been following some fan projects pertaining to the Harry Potter series. I first discovered the JJPotter edits of the films a while back and those are pretty sick, but now I'm more interested in the "ultimate definitive editions" by Klexos that are currently in the works.

Just wanted to say that the work some of you guys do is insane!
I'll be forever thankful for letting me relieve some of the best films of my childhood, at the quality I see them through my nostalgia-tinted glasses.

Hi all, I picked up a Spanish DVD of a very rare film, Wilder's Buddy, Buddy, which is the only known release. However it seems to be an old LD or VHS era master so it's scope widescreen, nonanamorphic, interlaced and in PAL with very low resolution. It looks almost like an old LD capture attempt with low end gear.
I was wondering if there's an easy way to get it to NTSC without speedup and make that anamorphic. It still won't look pretty but this the only version outside the 1981 MGM vhs/beta/CED.

I am very interested in learning about your projects, I currently have a multi-dubbing megaproject that seeks to achieve the best existing audio and video quality, all for its preservation, we also put together all the subtitles (full, forced, SDH).

After getting fed up with the blu-ray release of a favorite movie of mine, Heat, I looked around a bit, stumbled across this site, and was thrilled to see that someone had already made a theatrical restoration. (detritus/ferocious forever!)

I have no experience with fan restorations beyond Harmy's Despecialized Edition of Star Wars, so it is cool to see everything that is going on with them.

How does everyone here feel about the new 2022 masters for the Godfather films? I’m flabbergasted at what they did so far.

I ran the UHD of I. Then I watched the new little "restoration" featurette in desperation.
Zoetrope team handled it instead of Paramount. MPI did the scans.

So what the hell happened?

Frozen grain, random DNR that comes and goes from shot to shot, noise popping up everywhere....again Frozen Grain in The Godfather!!! And then you have the HDR application which seems kinda all over the place.
The new source scan and work seems lovely and doesn't have the drawbacks of what affected the old BD compared to the source restoration and DCPs produced by RAH and the 2007 team. When whatever the heck was done disappears or is dialed back there is obviously much more detail. But even though throwing those old Paramount discs on shows how they haven't aged well in their encodes and have too much red for example...at least you don't have the hideous issues of the new disc.
Again...what the hell happened? This is nuts.

The color is more neutral overall in its approach. It never hits the saturation levels of the 2008 disc but is relatively close when viewed on an OLED with the DV grading. The wedding is less blown out but they did keep some degree of trying to have that vintage home photography effect. I did notice the Vegas signs sticking out as RAH mentioned because they apparently sourced them from a master source.

Audio is the same scenario-lossy mono but at least its better than every other version I've tried save for the stupidly rare initial video releases.

I really don't even know how to describe it. It's better in some ways and hideous in others. At first I thought I was seeing things.

How in the hell this got glowing reviews is beyond me. It could look nice if you look past all the tomfoolery sure. Sure it's good to be in 4K instead of the outdated BDs. But at what cost???

Does anyone have the out of print French Blu Ray? From looking at caps-a-holic the German release has better colors and the French release has extra image so a combination of the two could work well - but the French disc is not easy to find.
