In a Lonely Place (1950):
2003 R2 Sony/Columbia Tri-Star DVD audio synced to 2016 Criterion Blu-Ray
More detailed audio, see https://blah-ray.blogspot.com/search/lab...%281950%29
The A/D sync varies wildly in numerous scenes, for example the restaurant scene at 50:30, where the timing of the dialogue in relation to the sounds of the pianist in the background is completely different between the two. I have chosen to use the sync of the Columbia DVD in most of these instances as I feel it's A/D sync is more "correct". This is because I noticed in the shot at 2:10 where Dix steps out the car, you can see the boy in the background say "Can I have your autograph, mister?", and this line of dialogue is clearly out of sync on the Criterion blu, but perfect on the DVD.

Hey, I'm a lover of film, as I suspect everyone here is too. I'm also shocked and surprised at how some laserdiscs sound better than modern sound mixes on UHD Blu-ray due to the terrible industry practice of noise reduction. Cheers!

Hi,
I don't have the 2-disc UHD/Blu-ray set of The Wizard of Oz (1939) yet, but I do have two Blu-ray releases: the 4-disc 70th Anniversary Emerald Edition Blu-ray/DVD set and the 5-disc 75th Anniversary Limited Collector's Edition 3D/Blu-ray/DVD box set. I was wondering if anyone could rip the following LaserDisc commentaries to sync to the UHD and Blu-ray discs:
1988 commentary by Ronald Haver [CC1159L]
1993 commentary by John Fricke [ML104755]
