So I have a video source I want to clean up, a cartoon specifically. It's got a lot of jagged horizontal lines (aliasing). Downscaling and upscaling doesn't help, and I've had a look at a few filters, but none of them do the job. How do I fix this little problem?

Thinking about a True Lies project and curious if anyone has soundtracks from various sources.

I have the C-DTS and the US DVD. I thought I had the JPN DVD but unable to find it at the moment. I was most curious if anyone had the LD soundtracks (PCM, DD 5.1, DTS 5.1)? Thanks.

What was the original theatrical soundtrack for this?

The Blu-ray has a 5.1 mix, but the first DVD and LD had a 2.0 Dolby Surround mix.

I strongly expect the latter to be how it was heard in theatres.

The rough cut was reportedly mono for budget reasons, but it's likely the final Miramaxe version was some kind of stereo.

There's nothing on the film credits or poster art to indicate sound mix.

Anyone know?

About this Fan Remaster

The movie was originally distributed by Columbia Pictures. But over the years the movie moved through many studios/distributers. This resulted in the removal of the opening logos and end credit card from the trailer, since it associated the trailer with Columbia Pictures.
A few months ago I've received a 35mm print scan of the trailer in HD with the logos and credits removed. I’ve searched the internet if there are traces of the actual original trailer available and found two VHS captures here on Youtube. Both had the full end credits intact and one even had the opening logo and MPAA green card intact. The logos and credits have been accurately matched to fully restore the original 1991 release trailer by Columbia Pictures.

Special thanks to thisisvhshell and Jean-Claude Vandammelibrary for making this release possible with posting the VHS capture of the original trailer.

Side Note: A full fan remaster using the movie to recreate the trailer is not possible, since footage of fight scenes have been removed and/or trimmed in the final cut of the movie. The 35mm trailer scan was still in good shape and so I did this version instead.

I'm disappointed to find out that director Richard Stanley's movie for Marillions Brave was not included in the Blu-Ray of the 2018 Deluxe Edition, and I would like to see a version with Remastered video and audio.

Someone can find the DVD of the movie, convert from PAL to NTSC, use AI upscaling to upscale the movie to 1080p/4K, and use Steven Wilson's 5.1 remix to replace the songs in the audio track. (The original Dave Meegan mix is also included)

There is no blu ray for this movie so the video comes from a 1080p webrip. The webrip was interlaced so this was deinterlaced and decimated in Avisynth. Aside from that nothing special was done with the video. Added to this was the audio tracks and special features from the DVD. I did try to track down the Hong Kong DVD for the DTS-ES 6.1 track but no luck.

The theatrical cut of Troy has been released on HD-DVD and Blu Ray but only in the Czech Republic, Poland and Russia. Whilst this version is inferior to the Director's Cut, it is still worthy of preservation due to the fact that it benefits from slightly increased picture on all four sides, it has unique color grading and it syncs to the Cinema DTS.

You can see the difference in grading below, TC top and DC bottom.





For the video I applied edge enhancement reduction and upscaled to 4k in Topaz, then took it back down to 1080P and regrained it. I also applied a partial CRT LUT as I noticed the blu ray had increased levels of red when compared to the theatrical cut DVD.

For this project I decided not to include any special features, as the Director's Cut disc contains everything from previous releases. Thanks to @stwd4nder2 for the French audio track.

Hi all, for some reason this has been open matte only on streaming and has never had an official release in HD.
I have looked and can only find one version in HD and OAR, has anyone seen it anywhere in OAR 5.1 1080p? thanks (also do we have the cineam DTS for this?)

After FT Depot posted the 35mm scan of the teaser trailer, this project was finally possible, since the trailer uses many shots from it. However this isn't a 100% re-creation, as some shots are missing or shortened in the final cut of the movie.

Still, it's very close to the original trailer and unless someone gets his hands on the 35mm trailer, this will be the best you'll ever see

Edit Notes
- Fox logo taken from Die Hard 2, since it was squeezed and could be used in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio after adjusting it. If someone knows a movie which a better looking logo in 1.85:1, let me know.
- 31:14 Alternate Take used in the final cut of the movie
- 59:13 scene missing in the final cut, a similar shot was used
- 1:01:14 shot misses 12 frames in the final cut, shot was adjusted to fill the gab
- 1:05:01 shot shown in the trailer is at later point of the same shot
- 1:06:02 shot shown in the trailer is at later point of the same shot
- 1:07:05 scene missing in the final cut, a similar shot was used
- 1:16:14 title animation is from the teaser. I like this one more



Why V1?
The title animation and credits in the trailer are taken from the teaser. I currently don't have time to fully restore them to match to the trailer. I might do it at a later point.
