| Where does the desync come from? |

I was trying to make a hybrid release for the movie "Source Code" (2011):
- Video: US 4K Blu-ray
- Audio: DTS-HD MA 5.1 from US Blu-ray release (the initial one from 2011)
in order to get away with the revisionist Dolby Atmos upmix from the 4K Blu-ray.*
The Blu-ray is "protected" with playlist obfuscation so that it employs seamless branching of several scenes, so I used DGDemux for stitching together the DTS-HD MA track as it is always under ~6ms of desync (better than e.g. MakeMKV).
In theory, the audio swap should be simple, because spot-checking the video tracks in VirtualDub shows that they are in-sync (frame-exact) up to the closing credits. Also, they both run with 23.976fps (per MediaInfo, and also VirtualDub displays exact same timecodes for a given frame-number).
As a (theoretically) redundant check, I wanted to make sure that the audio tracks are in sync, too. So I loaded both tracks into Audacity and compared the waveforms of both Center and LFE tracks. To do that, I needed to convert the THD track from the 4K to w64 (PCM) with eac3to, as Audacity does not import .thd files.
Here I noticed something strange: Not only are they out-of-sync against each other by about 40ms, but the desync even increases until the end of the movie until it reaches about 150ms of desync.
Has anybody an idea why this is happening? Are the tracks really that out of sync? I can't imagine this to be the case, as 150ms desync should be very noticeable. Or is there anything in my toolchain (mainly Audacity or eac3to) that would introduce any sync/timecode variances? Or is it possible that both versions do not actually run exactly at 23.976....fps but there are rounding errors that introduce timing variability? This really baffles me...
* I know that I can downmix the Atmos track, and in fact I have found that that is probably also the better option here because the Atmos track has better dynamic, but that is not the point here.

| Crocodile Dundee - Australian Cut HD Recreation |

Coming from this thread: https://fanrestore.com/thread-982.html
I'm currently working on re-editing the original Australian Cut of Crocodile Dundee in HD using the US Blu-ray containing the shortened and altered International Cut, and the Australian DVD containing the Australian Cut.
Here is a comparison of the two versions which I'm using as a guideline for the edit: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=172550
Thankfully, the hard-to-get (especially outside of Australia) Australian DVD containing the Australian Cut was thankfully provided by user Turisu, who also already altered it to 23.976 fps. I additionally de-interlaced it with Handbrake's default Decomb filter, which provided good results, and also raised the audio by 5 dB so that dialogue is roughly at the Blu-ray's level.
For the actual editing I'm using TMPGenc Smart Renderer 6. I'm trying to use as much Blu-ray video and audio as possible, as the DVD's quality (especially audio) is very poor. This means that I will have to touch the audio track afterwards for parts where I can use DVD video + Blu-ray audio (parts of the opening credits) and vice versa (scenes with altered dialogue but identical picture in the International Cut).
The transitions, both video and audio, are very noticeable. Additionally to quality differences, the DVD has a different color scheme and slightly different framing, and the audio is dynamic-compressed. I am not planning to do any corrections to that (that is outside of my skill range ).
I'm currently ca. halfway through. Sometimes I did cuts during longer takes that have been shortened in the International Cut. I tried to be frame-accurate, and they work OK. Just wondering whether I should also include very slight shot extensions in the Australian Cut like the ones at 20:13 and 20:18; and if yes whether I should cut these also during a take or only at edit points. Will decide that later.
Feel free to drop suggestions or hints

The Cinema DTS track for the heavily underrated The Mummy is now available. Huge thanks to Turisu for providing the files and for helping with encoding.
Final encode is a BD compatible DTS-HD file, muxing to MKV requires an offset of -21ms.
Tech Info
The raw AUD files were converted using the APT-X100 foobar2000 plugin, resampled to 48KHz, and slowed down to 23.976 FPS. Surround's have been lowered -3Db and LFE increased +6Db. Synced to US UHD.

Thought it might be useful to have a thread where people can list movies they know of that have had severe color changes on blu ray releases when compared to previous DVD/LD releases.
Could give inspiration to people looking to start a new project or new joiners looking for a way to contribute.

Was shot in Super35 with most scenes in 1.37 and CG/VFX stuff in varying 1.75 and 2.35 ratios. There was a 4:3 DVD of the theatrical cut fully opened up for most scenes (sometimes revealing things like boom mics and one scene with a rubber alien creature having the operator visible), and cropped for the VFX stuff.
I heard reports of a Russian HDTV airing and Starz having a 1.78 HD version of the theatrical cut up at some point, so the master is known to exist. I checked every digital provider in the US and for both cuts they have ether the 4k UHD master or the previous BD master in OAR. Hell, even the Korean digital places with their varying HDTV masters and free previews have ID4 in OAR or the 4k master. Some other friends of mine checked digital stores in other countries and they're the same.

D+81
![[Image: star-wars-d-81-project-logo-black.png]](https://i.ibb.co/jvn3n6J/star-wars-d-81-project-logo-black.png)
Project Info
D+81 is a "theatrical in spirit" reconstruction of Star Wars (1977), based on the 1981 Theatrical Re-Release version. This version of the film is the first instance of the "Episode IV - A New Hope" subtitle being attached to the film, inspired by the choice of naming TESB "Episode V". Inspired by the D+/OTD reconstructions, this reconstruction uses the recent 4K transfer as its base and uses TN1's Project 4K77 to undo Special Edition changes.
Video: A combination of Star Wars: A New Hope UHD Blu-ray and TN1's Project 4K77 where needed. D+77 will be used as the color reference for this project.
Audio: TBA
Note: I am not affiliated with nor am I a member of the D+/OTD/TDE teams. I am just a fan of the work they have done with D+77, D+80, OTD83, and ROTJ: The Destiny Edition, and a bit of a completionist when it comes to collecting various cuts of a film. This project is meant to be a companion piece to those releases.

LEGEND: U.S. TELEVISION CUT
Project Info
Like my recent Explorers: Definitive Cut release, Legend: The U.S. TV Cut is another personal passion project that has a special place in my heart. Ridley Scott's 1985 fantasy film, Legend, was another film I was introduced to in my childhood by my father. I have very fond memories associated with this film, and they have followed me into my late twenties -- and compelled me to do this project.
Being a fan of Legend since I was a kid, I naturally learned of the various cuts of the film that have existed over years and acquired each cut when I could. There was one cut that had eluded me for years: The U.S. Television Cut. By the time I had started hunting for it Legend wasn't playing on TV much anymore, and I couldn't find any trace of it online to watch. My interest in creating this project would be ignited when I came across a site dedicated to the film and saw various mention the TV Cut; the site even had a complete breakdown of the TV Cut written up! After giving a thorough readthrough of the breakdown, I had in my mind that I was going to recreate this cut to the best of my ability.
Video: Legend: U.S. TV Cut is reconstructed using the recently restored U.S. Theatrical Cut and Director's Cut of Legend found in the Arrow Video Limited Edition blu-ray set. The reconstruction is presented in the film's original 2.35:1 aspect ratio instead of the 1.33:1 aspect ratio of the original TV Cut. Legend: The U.S. TV Cut clocks in at 95 mins.
Audio:
LPCM: English 2.0 (Mixed down from the new LPCM 5.1 track for this release)
LPCM: English 5.1 (Sourced from the U.S. Theatrical Cut and Director's Cut DTS HD-MA 5.1 tracks out of the Arrow Video LE BD release)
DD+: English 2.0 (Converted and mixed down from LPCM 5.1 track)
DD+: English 5.1 (Converted from the LPCM 5.1 track)
Note: The English LPCM 2.0 track is the default audio track for this, which is the same for the Arrow Video LE release. This is done not only to emulate Arrow's release but to reflect both the theatrical and television releases.
