Suspiria was released in the US by Fox (through sub-division International Classics) in a trimmed down R-rated version with alternate credits, and possibly some other alternate footage that hasn't been documented yet. I am aware that the awesome Synapse BD and UHD have the US credits (complete with International Classics logo) as a bonus, but I don't think the full R-rated US version has ever been made available on video. This version has only ever aired on TV, with the last US airing being around 2012 (?) 

A Canadian channel called Hollywood Suite have Suspiria in HD and appears to be the US version. It's also on the Hollywood Suite channel on Amazon Prime Video Canada

Unfortunately, I don't have access to Canadian Prime and they're known to block VPNs anyway. If anyone from Canada uses Prime Video and can check to see which version of Suspiria it is and if it's in HD, that would be great!

I was looking to see if anyone had rips of older films shown on television. Mostly some of the ones I am thinking of had alternate footage where something had to be edited for television or different soundtracks. Some that come to mind are Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Porky's, Police Academy 1 & 2, The Naked Gun, & Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Everywhere I've seen this film's home video releases discussed, it's always mentioned that the correct audio sync for the original English mono audio is non-existent on modern digital releases. In addition to that, the only "uncut" modern release is the German BD. But I can't find any online topics where someone has captured the old LD and made a proper audio sync to the uncut BD.

I used the search function here and elsewhere, and it seems like there are hardly any topics relating to this film specifically at all. If I've missed something, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. But if my assumption is accurate that no project for this has been attempted yet, why is that? People have talked about this issue for years from what I've seen, but seemingly nobody has bothered syncing an LD capture yet.

Again, if there in fact is an LD capture floating around somewhere that I have just passed over by accident, please point me to where I can look for that. And if one has not been shared online yet, this thread is obviously a request for that. I would greatly appreciate it if anybody could help me out.

I have my massive raw prores quicktime and as I prepare for the final encoding portion I have a few questions and would appreciate any insight:


1.  I was thinking I would author the final file as a mkv with multiple audio tracks. Is there a limit on the resolution size for mkvx? I tried a small test in handbrake but could not make the resolution match my raw source which is 1915x1383

2. What is the best way to mux in multiple audio tracks? Can this be done in Handbrake or should I be using something else? Also to that end; how to I include 5.1 surround sound along with standard 2.0 audio options?


right now I have the following audio sources I could collect:

Spanish 2.0ch Dolby Digital Audio @ 192 kbps

I am trying to sync the laserdisc audio (Taiseng) with the GB remastered bluray as that only has the 5.1 remix.

The issue I am having is that the Laserdisc audio will sync to one part then become out of sync after a while. Another user (made a thread in the wrong area) suggested the Laserdisc might be PAL.

Hello everyone. Been a fan edit collector for years and love talking about film in general. Happened upon this place and look forward to getting to know fellow enthusiasts.

My first "big" reconstruction project, I've made a version of this movie where every actor speaks their original language.
This movie is available in three versions:
All voices dubbed in English, all voices in French and all voices in German.
Naturally, this will not do, so I synchronized the three versions, and then switched back and forth between them depending on speakers' original language. I switched it "live" on my first viewing, then I made a more proper edit in Audacity later. Most of the movie is in French, most of what's left in American, the rest German. There's one actress who speaks English in some scenes and French in others, which confused me for a bit. Oh, and there's Swedish for two lines, but only in the American dub.

When I did this, I had three versions available:
1080p streaming: American image, American dub
DVD rip: American image, French dub
TV Rip: German image, German dub, some scenes deleted, bad quality.
I used FFMatch to match the versions and copy the soundtracks (as MP3, because that's what FFMatch does) and then used a whole lot of "constant power crossfade" in Audacity to jump between them. (Which isn't great, if I want to redo it.)
I started with the American streaming copy as a base, but would use French audio for the most part, in case of crowd noises and such. I would only use the German dub when necessary, since it was much lower quality. There was also one scene that should have been spoken in German, but wasn't present in the German TV rip.
I also edited the subtitles slightly, since they were not translations, but transcriptions of the American dub, so the subtitle lines would be somewhat out of sync and also didn't match the original languages in translation.
Best example: "Ich habe vier Panzer-" became "I have three panzers-", even though "vier" means 4, not 3. Because the mouth movements of "three" and "vier" (sounds like "fear") match better, that's what they dubbed it to...
Unfortunately, I don't understand French, only German, so I couldn't verify if the French translation was bad.
Since finishing/abandoning this project I've found a French/German HDTV rip, which is very good quality and should really be used to replace the German audio. It also included the deleted German TV rip scene, but seems to be dubbed by a different German actor than the one on-screen. This HDTV version is French image, with synchronized French and German soundtracks, so hypothetically there could be some fun reconstruction work one could do to make creditless openings and suchlike.

Hello everyone, I'm Goggen240, my day job is digital projectionist and in my spare time I sometimes mess around with videos.
One of my corona hobbies has been to watch every WWII ever made, and that's led me to make undubbed extended Soviet war movie edits, which people usually don't find interesting at all, for some reason.
And then I came across this place!

Mostly, I've been using VirtualDub for video editing, Audacity for (amateur) audio editing, and I've fallen in love with FFMatch for synchronizing soundtracks.
I've been trying to get into AutoOverlay for AVISynth, and that's how I came across this here forum.
I'll be making a couple posts in the other subforums, I'm new, so feel free to move them around or edit them or whatever if I post them in the wrong spots.

FreeSurround is a surround decoding component for foobar2000 that sounds fantastic and even better than most Dolby decoders out there like the one with ffdshow, as ranked by this binaural experiments chart. foobar2000 can do up to 16.1 decoding, which is even more channels than the most common Dolby Atmos setup of 11.1, but I only upmixed to 7.1 as there is probably no way to encode homebrew Dolby Atmos mixes yet unless some brave soul decides to buy the Dolby Media Producer Suite.

I have put them up as FLAC 7.1 tracks as I do not have any knowledge on encoding with DTS-HD MA but feel free to make your own DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD versions. I will not upmix the audio to 16.1 unless some people really want them for whatever reason because I am working with limited disk space, a 16.1 mix would take up over twice the size as a 7.1 mix, and I am working with limited disk space.

The films included with purist 7.1 upmixes are:
- Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986)
- My Neighbor Totoro (1988)
- Grave of the Fireflies (1988)
- Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)
- Only Yesterday (1991)
- Porco Rosso (1992)
- Pom Poko (1994)

As you can see, these films were originally in Dolby Stereo and the Blu-ray has these original mixes. I did not do 7.1 upmixes of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and Ocean Waves because they are not Dolby Stereo (the first two are mono and the latter is stereo, and Cagliostro already has a 7.1 mix on the 4K UHD).

I did not do 7.1 upmixes of the later films either because the current surround mixes are already good enough, and their 2.0 mixes on Blu-ray are not the original Dolby Stereo SR mixes they were shown with but rather stereo downmixes made from the 5.0/5.1/6.1 discrete surround mixes.
