Looking for the "right" Terminator 2 color grading...

Too much dnvr and sharpening

Well, I know something too many THX-certified post houses unfortunately don't: you don't need DVNR or extra sharpness to look good.

You don't, and yet they did

Yes, from what I've thus far noticed the color should line up with the director's intentions. It's the DVNR and sharpness boost that are problematic. And the less said about the Star Wars Special Edition Blu-rays, the better.

Well, now that we know Live's 1997 DVD release (which I have in the 1998 Artisan keepcase) has the CDS mix in its Dolby Digital 5.1 track... that's a confirmed source I'll be using for my restoration as the English audio track for the theatrical version.

Also... where's the DVNR and sharpness boost most evident on the THX releases?

Now, these are not captures but only photographs of the display, so colors are surely off.
Bearing that in mind, the MrBrown's squeezed LD (first edition, not the one in the comparison) has different colors from both (and from any other editions on BD/DVD etc. AFAIK).

Well, that was illuminating

Popped in the squeeze and the PAL disc and I am shocked.
The Pal looks better for resolution but they are 100% different, the framing of the super 35 is messed up on the PAL disc
The print damage in the same place in every HD disc is on the PAL laser, but not on the Squeeze.
I think it's a timed IP at least, even a release print maybe.
I have so many copies and never stopped to look!

Will try and crudely cap tomorrow if I can, or at least off screen.

I think the squeeze is right.

It's late and this is not perfect and irks me but gives you an idea
