Looking for the "right" Terminator 2 color grading...
Sporv, there is no UK remastered from 2015. It's from 2017, meaning it's derived from the 3D/UHD remaster with all the digital "fixes" involved. You want the real T2? Don't go further 2015.

US 2015 which is the 2003 Xtreme remaster with the grain intact.

Lionsgate early Blu-ray is the same scan but badly compressed to mpeg2.

US 2015 = Lionsgate. The main good thing about it is the grain retention, can't speak about the image size.

Careful, there is no "2015 UK remastered" Blu-ray, that's the 2017 you're on about. The only 2015 one of note is the US one, which never came out in the UK.

The 2015 US one gets my vote. It's not perfect but it's the best to date imo. I saw the 2017 one in the cinema. Unfortunately, the 2015 one never came out in the UK.

- 2008 French HD-DVD and Blu-ray are a pre-Skynet version of the same master that was later used to make the branching Skynet Edition releases around the world; at this point it's 2 separate discs

- 2009 Skynet Edition is the above with the theatrical audio removed and replaced with remix, and seamless branched instead of separate discs. DNRd to oblivion as well. </3

- 2015 is still seamless branched but includes the theatrical 5.1 again and loads of grain

- 2017 is the "remaster" made for the 3D theatrical release so goodbye grain and anything that made the film look like it was made in the early 90s

This year is the film 30th anniversary, so expect some kind of reissue from StudioCanal, hopefully with grain reinstated.

Though my feeling is they will miss the window due to Cameron not okaying the new grainy master until it's too late.

The 2017 master was supposed initially to come out in 2016 for the film 25th anniversary. When it comes to his past work, he is running on his own time, and one could argue, with his forthcoming work too.

Sorry, my bad, I mixed the UK remastered BD with US 2015 one...

So, the UK remastered BD is 2017, hence the same as UHD apart color grading?
If it's the case, is there some other version with the same frame size, but with grain?

Afaik the framing on the 2017 releases is new. But it is not in every scene really optimal..

The 2017 remastere BDs base upon the same altered version, as the UHD, but they are not completely the same (in framing and color):

Interesting... so it's possible to get a bigger frame size combining 2017 UHD and BD - at least for some shots!

Yes I suggested this back then. I think you can get to open up the image on many shots (and restore balance on them, as some of those are badly off like the moment the T-800 turns around with the mini-gun and smiles where they extended the ceiling and cropped the mini-gun).

Suffice to say that opinion seems to be very strongly divided. So, until some concrete and irrefutable evidence surfaces, I'm going to say that this blanket of teal that Cameron keeps throwing over his movies is just a very acquired taste that I have not yet been blessed with the gift of enjoying. Well, it's not actually an opinion. I've seen a 35mm print in september 2014 and reported back on originaltrilogy.com quite soon after. The movie is very much teal, with a touch of purple and the explosions are very much yellow with fewer orange shades than what we've been accustomed to on video. And I have a very vivid memory of the shot of John and injured Sarah climbing the ladder in the steel factory, and when they arrive on top, pretty much no orange around, it was VERY yellow.

There you go! Finally!

35mm : yellow
