Which shots are hard matte? Apart very few shots that gain not too much top and bottom, the others have all a lot more image there, while a bit less on both side in comparison to Criterion 1.66 and others 1.85

Cloud Atlas Open Matte is sourced from HK/Chinese Bluray, I own it. It's 29.97i.

I have the PAL VHS which comes from a print (cue marks etc.) and everything is open matte apart from the ED-209 stuff which is slightly letterboxed.

Titanic's 2012 remaster has a 2D version on HDTV. Just like the 3D bluray but without the fill in artefacts. Exactly the same color grade.

Beauty and the Beast (US BD) while gaining from the 1.85:1 DVD, is Pan and Scanned from the 1.66:1 negative (12% of image lost).
There's an "open matte" version in 1.78:1 of Infinity War labelled as "IMAX", since it was shot with digital LIEMAX cameras. There's some gain vertically, but definitely loss horizontally. We'll have to wait for the 3D Blu-ray to see if it's in its true LIEMAX presentation in 1.90:1 as they usually do for their 3D discs:

This is from the MGM DVD "flipper" disc with both "standard" and "widescreen" versions of Annie Hall . .

USA channel HDTV airing of Black Hawk down was basically opened up with light cropping on the sides, only kicker was that it was edited for language and gore plus end credits were warp sped up as well.
