Film logo preservation and talk thread

Enter The Dragon was a Concord-Warner Bros co-production. But I don’t ever recall seeing a version with the Concord logo on that either. But maybe there was on first-run prints?

You're probably right about 1973 prints of the HK version. Funny enough, I bought a copy of the Kam & Ronson Fortune Star blu of Enter the Dragon long before the prices skyrocketed and that version has the later GH logo (it also has has one short scene not in the US theatrical or SE versions).

How about this variant of the '72 Golden Harvest logo (at 1:17)? Its Chinese text and music are different compared to the one found on the Japanese Fist of Fury blu-ray extra:

I believe some of the HK trailers for Big Boss, Fist of Fury, and Way of the Dragon have them. These should be on the Shout Selects and Criterion BDs.

There's a poor-quality version on the Shout/Criterion Big Boss (the ones on FoF/WotD are different variants), but it looks upscaled judging by the aliasing:

The version in that YouTube video looks very nice though - wonder where it was ripped from?

EDIT: Ah, possibly from here:

This 2nd ITC Film Distributors logo used from 1982-1987 (nicknamed "rainbow" and features a piece of music from Raise the Titanic) was thought to be lost to extremely rare 35mm UK theatrical prints and ratty old VHS copies. After several years of searching, it has just been discovered on the new Network UK BD of Whoops Apocalypse (1986, and ITC production obviously). It was also released by MGM/UA in the US, but the UK theatrical run was strangely enough by Virgin Films and did not have this logo on it's poster. It may have one of the last films with this logo attached on the preprint elements, but by the time of it's theatrical release Virgin replaced it with one of theirs.

Ether way, this finding is owesome and I also made it my new avatar  Big Grin  Cool

That's an amazing find! It always warms my heart to see a lost piece of media found Smile
Program material is recorded on the other side of this disc...

Anyone know the source/availability of this high-quality version of the late 80s Virgin ident? Was this ever used at the start of Virgin's theatrical releases, like Gothic (1986)?

Thought I'd announce myself with the reason I joined. The 1967 United Artists logo as seen on the recent Kino Lorber blu-rays has always to my eyes looked like a recreation, especially with how the blue "CRT" portion of the logo becomes just another rounded off square and the UA wordmark is centered within the circle. I figured, since this likely means there might not be another source for the genuine article, we could at least do with a more accurate recreation.

That comes off the UK trailer for The Handmaid's Tale. AFAIK it was only seen on UK release prints of stuff from 1987 until Virgin shuttered their film division. TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if a label releases a remastered MGM title with this intact since the ITC Film Distributors logos were thought long lost until recently.

Nice work if that is a recreation! The Kino Dollars releases used a fan recreation that originated from here
