I imagine this Japanese HDTV rip is probably an earlier Warner owned HD master (does it open with any Warner tags at the start and end?).

There's a gray HV logo at the start, and a standard Warner logo appears at the end.

What do you mean by "HV" logo? Do you mean the Warner Home Video logo or a Japanese station logo?

Very intriguing! I've never seen the top logo anywhere else before, nor even heard of this HV company (and yet I've stumbled upon PAL HDTV rips of Mad Max based on the MGM master, with Time Warner CGI shields sloppily pasted over the MGM logos with their roars intact nonetheless). I imagine since Warner controls distribution rights outside NA, this HV company is probably some sort of Japanese station or broadcast rights holder under licence from Warner?

I've no idea – just answering your previous question about the logos. I guessed that it meant "home video". The logo experts will have to step in.

No idea myself but when I saw the HV, I wondered if it could it be a logo for Hi Vision?

Can't be for Hi-Vision, as that was a dead format by the time that Warner master was made and I think that format was patented to someone like Panasonic I forget.

So it could mean if this UK tape from 1992 was recorded in stereo, it could offer the best Australian original mix ever released.
Jonno, could you check if this tape has stereo channels? No indication on the sleeves.

I confirm, the so called "original mono" from the 4K disc of Mad Max is the same old fold downmix from the 5.1 as it features the same gunshots, missing foley sounds, and bad music edits.

Plus: the 4K still does not look like the original film (although it's an improvement from the old Blu-ray disc).

So the original Pal DVD is still the way to go to see Mad Max with original mono australian sound and colors.

Hello! I'm new here & i think you are right person to ask / talk with those Mad Max mono tracks.

Have you watched vhs tapes which contains those original australian mono tracks? There's a lot of talk on forums that those australian 5.1 and mono tracks missing some sounds, running footsteps, gun dropping to road, bird wings flap etc.

If you have compared those tracks to old vhs tapes by yourself, can you confirm that those "missing" sounds really are on original australian mono track?

I think those sounds are not even vhs tapes & are later added when they created AIP u.s dub or when digital tracks first came out to laserdisc & early dvd's.

Are you 100% sure that new 4K UHD Kino Lorber australian mono is "fake"? What if that really is first original australian mono track? I've seen Mad Max since 80's on various vhs, dvd & blu-ray versions but i don't remember anymore whatkind tracks those vhs tapes have.
