GoldenEye:
BD/LD audio to playWEB 4K WEB-DL: +7049ms (Different opening studio logos) Thanks given by: BDgeek
Goldeneye I assume is 169 frame difference, correct, same as AMZN Webrip.

Yes. It syncs perfectly to the Amazon rip.

Goldfinger:
BD/LD audio to playWEB 4K WEB-DL: +4967ms Those are the only 3 playWEB WEB-DLs that I have. Any other delay times I post would have to be based on the DEFLATE releases. Thanks given by: BDgeek
Comparing the quality of the other two WEB-DLs I have:
The GoldenEye playWEB release looks identical to the 35Gb Amazon WEBRip despite being just 15Gb. It also syncs perfectly to it so they're the same source. The file size difference is presumably due to the latter being an HDMI capture. Goldfinger I compared to the 25Gb GASMASK WEBRip and in this case the playWEB release doesn't look good at all. It has a raised black level looking as if the wrong RGB range was used. The GASMASK release also has more visible grain and detail. So to sync the LD audio to the superior release: Goldfinger: BD/LD audio to GASMASK 4K WEBRip: +4296ms Seems these new playWEB releases are very hit-and-miss. I'd be very interested to check out the other movies if I can find them. Thanks given by: BDgeek
Goldfinger Gasmask is very good so not a surprise. In the case of Goldeneye guess Ill just stick with the AMZN. LALD is a wash between Deflate and Playweb as far as I can see. I will next check YOLT Playweb against AMZN and report.

Dr. No (1962)
BD/LD audio to DEFLATE 4K WEB: No sync. This one has frame differences mid-film so a simple delay will not suffice. Comparing the DEFLATE 4K WEB release to the BD, the 4K WEB has more visible detail and much more vivid colours. The magenta tint that the BD has is also fixed (although for some reason the gun barrel opening is more magenta on the 4K WEB). However the DEFLATE release has some weird grain artefacts around moving objects (most noticeable when Ursula Andress is emerging from the sea). It's pretty distracting once you notice it. Overall I prefer the 4K WEB if only for the colours. As a side note; the DEFLATE MKV has cropping parameters set to crop out the black bars to the left and right of the video. This causes the file to play in the wrong aspect ratio on some players. Removing the cropping flags from the MKV header resolves this problem.
You Only Live Twice (1967)
BD audio to DEFLATE 4K WEB: +5380ms Compared to the BD the DEFLATE 4K WEB isn't much of an improvement. The 4K WEB is slightly less magenta and in some shots has slightly more fine detail. But other shots look almost DNR'd and grainless where there is visible grain in the BD. Pick your poison, I guess. It seems like all the DEFLATE MKVs are set to crop the black bars which are present in the video track. |
