[Help] Superman 2 Theatrical Cut pre bluray master.

I have it on good authority that the original cut of Superman 2 is streaming on Apple TV and Vudu. The pre bluray master without the revisionist colour timing and blown out whites. Is anyone in a position to capture this version. The last time it was available was a HDTV rip that's been missing online for about a decade.

I can get the iTunes version, and will have to remove the DRM to send you the file.
I'll have to remember how I did it last time, because its been a few months.
I remember its a pain in the ass, but it can be done.

The video file alone is 5.93gb, not including audio when downloaded.

You would need L1 cdm to start decryption procedure and as far as I am aware need to purchase file as rented versions have issues at moment.

Have you had time to check whether it is the older hd master yet.

The bigger bitrate files (between 6 and 10mbps) are exclusive to streaming devices only and not meant for download, but with some coding trickery and the essential L1 device cdm (which is needed as part of the process to decrypt the files once downloaded) they can be downloaded. The normal iTunes downloads are restricted to the usual 5mbps versions.

Cool. So you have this file in a usable state now or it has DRM that needs breaking?

As you are only getting the usual iTunes download, can't you just download it with 12.6 and use Tuneskit to remove the DRM, only issue with that  is the sound will be re-encoded but I assume you will sync other soundtracks to it anyway so not really a problem. How are you removing the DRM afterwards, not just screen recording I hope, as not sure why you would be getting hdcp error at end by just downloading otherwise. I assume if you continue to have issues and you decide to go down the L1 decryption route you actually have an L1 cdm.

By the way has anyone managed to check the Amazon version to see which master that is as the quality will be alot better than iTunes and can be easily grabbed if so without hassle, can't check myself as it is only available for rental/purchase in US/UK. Based on the little preview box, looks like older master, but that's not a guarantee the actual full version is.

I've uninstalled, re-installed, rebooted, trying various iterations of iTunes 12, and they all can stream the 1080, but as soon as its downloaded to my disk, I get an error message and it will not play.
No, I've not screen-recorded anything nor would I.
I do not have an L1 cdm.
If I could get my hands on the encrypted DRM-version saved to my HDD, I could crack the encryption and save us a DMR-free 1080 copy.
update: Amazon version IS the older master, but! its not @ 2.39:1, its full-frame (open matte? cropped? I don't know the movie well enough to tell). It expands out to letterbox for the credits then goes back to fullscreen

Why are you trying to play it after download. Just open Tuneskit, find file and it should decrypt it.

Just in case, you are doing something different, here is the procedure I would do if problems.

Uninstall iTunes completely. Clear all program data and registry of remnants.
Use CCleaner to clear any further remnants.
Re-install 12.6.
Download film again.
Open Tuneskit and decrypt said file.

it doesn't "complete" the download, as soon as it gets to 100%, then iTunes gives an error message, I've not even tried to play it yet.
You keep commenting to me like I've never done this before.
In the past, I've downloaded and successfully decrypted 1080p movies from iTunes, I still have them even now on my HDD.
This one... has been a challenge.
My rental period is over.
Why are you so excited about me decrypting a 4gig file anyways? I'd like to get him the larger full-size that you keep mentioning.
The 4gig version is a dead-end for our friend anyway.

I've found if I don't explain exactly what I'm doing down to the minute hair-split detail, people on sites like this assume I'm a newb and don't know what I'm doing, when that's not the case. I've been exhausted and overworked, and spent some time trying to help the OP get his Superman project going.
it's not for me, this isn't my post or project. I'd like to encourage you to help him, if you can. I do not know how to use L1 cdm on iTunes, you clearly do.

Slight variance in color based on this screenshot but that might be my mpc-be not getting exact frame or settings, not sure.
