Proposal: The James Cameron Project
#71
It’s been quite some time so I couldn’t say for sure. But it’s definitely not as red as what we’ve seen nor as green/blue as this “new” master.

Also, I wasn’t as focused on the image because the SR mag was SO GOOD.

I've heard 'normal' 70mm 6-track mag and that was pretty incredible, I imagine 70mm SR is transcendental

Yep, there's no home-video equivalent of the first explosion when Harry shows his invitation. The 70mm Cinemas were earth-shaking.

I did once hear a super high end Martin Logan system in the mid 90s playing back that invitation scene off the AC3 laserdisc. It sounded incredible. I’ve never been able to duplicate it at home with my modest system. But it gives me hope.

High quality amplification is a beautiful thing, there is really nothing else like it. That and finding the 'sweet spot' for bass.

I can still remember how utterly insane the low end was on T2 70mm, depths of hell stuff. Having said that the laserdisc does come close

You're right. I went like 14 times I think in 70mm over a three months period. Each time I would concentrate on a different aspect of the film. The 3D conversion is a piece of utter s--t compared to this<;$$
