[Canceled] Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (IMAX Recreation)
The final no is the frame no within the 24 frames, that's the way I have navigation in Videoredo set as it is the easiest method. From what I remember I thought smart renderer can use the same method which is:

SMPTE HH : MM : SS : FF

I know Solveig Video Splitter can (another smart renderer). If not let me know and I,ll work out the actual frame no's.

Working with subtitles, they always refer to 24fps even if when 23.976fps is used, so you should assume your 23.976fps source as 24fps... I guess here is the same.

I think all smart renderers work exactly using 24 frames rather than 23.976.

The other thing that could be causing Videoredo sync problems is that the level for the bluray is high 4.1 and the WEB-DL is high 4.0. I've fixed the bad sei warnings by running the original WEB-DL through tsmuxer first and then using that file to edit. Will let you know on sync later.

No, even with sei fix, still out of sync, will change level to 4.1 as well and see if that works.

Await your findings using smart renderer.

Thanks for the numbers. Downloading blu ray now, will check then and let you know. Could take a few hours or even days though, depending on the mood of my internet.

I need frame numbers because that's the only thing I can import as a list. I'm much too lazy to adjust every clip by hand. Wink

Not sure what assuming 24fps means, but Smart Renderer definitely outputs 23.976fps files. But maybe that is indeed what is used for the timecode. Would make sense, but also complicate things for longer projects. That whole weird numbers convention is stupid anyway. Just realized I don't even know where it comes from. Why can't you Americans do a round number like every normal person? 24 fps or 25 fps sounds good. 30 fps does too. But nooo, USA has to have 29.97 and stuff like that. Big Grin

I would be surprised if the level was a problem, as the higher levels typically encompass the functionality of the lower levels, so if the result is a 4.1, then the 4.0 should not be an issue.

Even though the file maybe 23.976, when you edit using the method I use above it shows in the timeline as 24 individual frames (actually 23 frames no's, and each 24th goes to the beginning of the next second) (each frame in the timeline accounts for roughly 0.042 sec). It outputs at the correct 23.976. I'm not actually American. Hoping it works for you with smart renderer, if not there's something weird with the resolution properties of the WEB-DL causing the sync problem. If I mux the output in tsmuxer it stutters at the edit points but not in mkv which as you know is more resilient to errors.

Well I was just being ranty about the Americans thing. Not to be taken too seriously. Smile

TSMuxer does sometimes fuck up streams though. I have tried to use it to mux an MKV into some TS format, then back into mp4. Result was faulty, despite the original being a fine normal remux of a Blu Ray. Not sure what's up with that.

Yea, tsmuxer can be buggy but the sync problem still happens even in mkv. So annoying. Even though I have the high bitrate encode using Simple x264 (from lossless export lagarith out of Premiere) perfectly in sync I personally prefer as untouched as possible.

Agreed! Currently 16% downloaded of the Blu Ray. Will keep you updated.
