I have a Highlander project sort of brewing in my imagination.... But I have never seen the US version.
I would really just like a Laser disc quality version or DVD version but from what I can garner it's unavailable?
anyway It would be nice to see this project done.
I have most of the Raw materials to expand the film a bit.
I have the absolute complete soundtrack almost a project in it'self which would make a nice extra and I have all the deleted footage found in other media plus the Blu-ray but I can't rip the deleted scenes (no Blu ray PC drive) but I want to extend and use the alternate takes on the end fight. Anyway I think I would like to do an ultimate edition.
Anyway this would be one of my most wanted sound mix projects to do the deleted scenes with no Audio.

I have a DVD of the French theatrical cut which removes the WW2 flashback and a few shots of the detective in his car but happy to rip and donate

I still would really like a project to re-create the US cut and marry it to the LD audio.
I actually captured the HBO presentation (includes the Fox logo) from VOD/DVR but was unable to properly IVTC it. Something was wrong in my cap or the "broadcast". My equipment reads the broadcast as 1080/60i (aka 59.94) but when I capped it at that frame rate; the video won't IVTC properly. I also tried at 30i (29) and running it through my scaler and capping at 24p (23.97). None of these worked when they normally do.
So either the video is trash or I'm not IVTC'ing it correctly (tried TFM/TDEC, tired QTGMC, tried Srestore). Maybe a more knowledgeable person would have some advice.

the only scene you would need Is detective Bedsoe spilling Coffee on himself so that part is really short in seconds.
Try to export that scene raw at whatever it is de-interlaced, and match it to as Big Rob said the French Version Using the US cut Laserdisc as a reference for the framecount of that scene.
Sort of Manually de-telcine a short clip by deleting the extra frames. Or just use the Laserdisc for that shot but yeah sounds do-able.
59:41 After Connor says goodbye to Rachel, only the cinematic version features a shot of detective Bedsoe, who's sitting in his car in front of Brenda's appartment drinking coffee. This shot isn't in the DC.
+ 6.6 sec.
Aside from the Logo and the Audio at the end "I Want to go home" after the quickening Everything is in the French Cut.
As Far as any other Material is concerned outside the Deleted scenes with no Audio Here is The footage and audio I have found.
There a Side shot of Connor walking past a pillar in the Parking Lot Fight Which is probably the original transition for "Kill Mcleod! Kill Mcleod!" scene
Mssing Animated Lightning Strike Kurgun Looks Down (Ramirez Battle the Kurgun)
Missing Splash for one of the Silvercup Letters Falling down in the Final Battle
Mcleod drops his sword close up and Deleted animation from Final quickening (3 or 4 shots Alternate edit)
In the Alternate ending for Highlander 2 I think they lifted the Sean Connery Voiceover to close the film it's the same spoken in the bathroom of his house echo.
Extra Music in Church Scene plus some alternate cues.

Does the French version exist in HD; preferable on BD?

It's all in HD on the Blu ray so if you capped the theatrical in HD with your DVR apart from perhaps doing an image sequence on that 6 second scene you have it I think if you have the Blu Ray and the LD Audio.
