  Top Gun LD audio
Posted by: dvdmike - 2022-05-14, 09:45 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (45)

Hi all,

I swear I had seen a post but cannot find anything via search.
Does anyone have the 2.0 and LD 5.1 audio please?
Ideally synced to the 4k or the 3D blu.
Thanks

  Overboard 1987 LD audio

Anybudy have these LDs and ways to cap their audio?

Would like to sync up to the Severin BD as the audio on that is faulty (they used the same audio track from MGM's HD master where sections go back and forth between mono and stereo).

Considering upgrading to 4K tv on a budget
Posted by: captainsolo - 2022-05-10, 09:29 PM - Forum: Everything else... - Replies (10)

I’m tired of missing out on UHDs and hdr. Not to mention only being able to review 1080p discs. The technical upgrades every year have made me keep waiting for bugs to be worked out and prices to come down.
I’m thinking about finally going for the 55” Sony a80j oled since they’ve been marked down. My concern would then be the new quantum dot oled panels coming out for 2022 but it seems the prices will be astronomical for now.
I would get a Panasonic UHD player and Down convert UHDs to my plasma but those players are already very expensive and I’m sick of the headaches with my Panasonic plasma-meaning I rarely if ever use it.

I was just wondering what everyone’s experience here has been with 4K TVs. I think I’ve driven myself crazy with reviews and videos thinking about upgrading for years now.

I have the Umbrella (AU) Blu-ray and it's 2.0 stereo.

But the age-old HBO DVD (US) had a 5.1 track and the credits list the films as Dolby Stereo Digital.

Anyone know if this was 5.1 in theatres?

And if the German BD's 5.1 track is legit?

Thanks.

After hunting down several DVDs only to discover they all have remixed audio, I have finally secured the original mono audio sourced from the VHS. It never had and LD release, and a blu-ray is unlikely, so this is the only source of the original audio ever released. It is synced to the HD web-dl.

Thanks to Doctor M for helping me secure a higher quality web-dl. And special thanks to crissrudd4554 for transferring the audio and video from the VHS.

Irma la Douce (1963) Hi-Fi VHS [Key Video 4548] Synced to UK Blu-ray
Posted by: TheLoon - 2022-05-03, 05:14 PM - Forum: Released - Replies (1)

Hi folks - a rare 1985 hi-fi VHS soundtrack for you all, recorded from a pristine, previously unplayed copy. Superior to all subsequent releases of the film it seems, now synced to the UK Masters of Cinema Blu-ray (and synced even better than that disc, which is out by 1-3 frames at various times). PM for a link - enjoy!

Wonder if someone can help please? Bought the LD recently but unfortunately there’s a 30 second section where there’s a lot of crackling noise on side 2. I’ve tried cleaning the disc but it hasn’t made any difference.

Does anyone have the R1 DVD with the stereo mix they could share? Was thinking of patching a small section of that in when I sync it to the 4K and hopefully it won’t be noticeable.

  Editing PGS Subtitles
Posted by: The Aluminum Falcon - 2022-05-02, 09:04 PM - Forum: General technical discussions - Replies (8)

Hey all, this is a very specific question, but I'm doing a fan edit of the 1973 Clint Eastwood movie, MAGNUM FORCE. Good movie, but they added a lot during production which was not in the original script (love interest, gratuitous murder scene, etc.) I did my editing in Premiere and encoding in Handbrake.

Is there a way to edit the original Blu-Ray's PGS subtitles to fit the new picture? I've kept track of the specific timecode of any of my deletions.

I was originally hoping to use TSMuxer to break the original video file (with PGS) into several segments, then append them together in TSMuxer. But, when I do that, the subtitles only work up until the first segment break.

If all else fails, I suppose I'll just do a backup version where I hardcode English subtitles. Hoping to figure all this out because A) I have a close friend who is not a native English speaker and often uses subtitles to help B) I want to know if I can fan edit any foreign films Smile

I'm on a Mac, FWIW.

Q: The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)/The Last Supper (1995)

Film's US poster has the Dolby Stereo logo but the end credits has a Dolby Stereo Digital logo.

The Warner Archive BD has only a 2.0 track.

So was this released theatrically in 5.1?

Seems unlikely the credits would be wrong... but the poster and BD suggest otherwise.
