I had to restore an older movie that was previously wrecked w/ multiple layered bad interlacing choices, tons of jitter, ghosting, terrible resampling, on and on. What's left is a very stable movie, but it looks too sterile, clinical, waxy, lifeless. It was definitely shot on film (35mm?) and I'm seeking to add a wee tiny bit of grain back into it. Any grain that was there is long gone. I have several grain plates I could overlay in Premiere (or Resolve), but I'm open to ideas. The grain technically *should change over time in the running length, and increase in darker scenes and decrease in lighter scenes, right? It should be dynamic. Can you guys please give me some pointers/tips as this will be my 1st time attempting this. I *could go w/ a grain rendering program, but that route seems very artificial and I'd rather overlay some real grain. Please share some ideas, I appreciate your time and help!

Anyone has any of the stereo LD tracks for this title? I found previous 5.1 surround on older Blu-rays to be lacking and the new one (found on UHD and new remastered Blu-ray) seems a different 5.1 remix. There's seems to be a digital track for the 1990 one, but also on the 1997 edition, which also contains a 5.1 on the other track (upmix, remix or 6-track?).
Any of these will do, depending on the whishes if someone is willing to share it unsynced, I can sync to UHD and share it here or if the owner prefers it not to, so it will be respected.
In any case, I want to compare it against the 5.1 mixes.

Really surprised that blah-ray never covered this one. I'd love to do a large scale comparison to see what sounds the best (if it's not already been done). Both the 7.1 and 5.1 are slightly different mixes but have lots of noise reduction applied.
I've listened to the blu-ray (3 different tracks) a random PAL dvd (5.1), an HDTV rip (5.1), and a late 80s VHS. The VHS easily sounds the best with much less NR, although my copy is thrashed so I'll have to seek out a replacement if it ends up needing a sync. Here's quick comparison to the 2.0 "original" mix that is included on the blu:

Looks like there are a bunch of LDs to choose from and there's a few other VHS copies I might have to snag. Anyone have any LD/VHS recordings or any input as to what mixes might sound the best?
