Be careful with 35mm sources as there were a load struck in 2001 for an anniversary release (seen it on the big screen twice now)

I think it's from a release print, it's got cue marks and no Harlan Ellison credit at the end. There's lots of blue and lots of green. The Hi-Fi mono is surprisingly aggressive although the tape is a bit weathered and there are drop-outs. IMHO it's a surprisingly satisfying watch despite being early VHS, it's steely and gritty like it should be.
I've slowed the cap down to 23.976, cropped the junk at the edges and resized to 480p. The audio is 48kHz FLAC. MKV File, 2.7GB. This is by no means a preservation, just an additional perspective as to what the original timing might have been.
I'll keep this uploaded until I need the space. PM for links

Actually, I'm not sure whether reprints from 2001 would look that different. I have seen prints of 80s films that must have come from the 2000s, since they showed minimal wear, yet they looked authentically of their era to my eyes (admittedly never having seen original prints of any of them, except for a faded original 70mm of Star Trek II). I feel like they wouldn't have done much work beyond striking a fresh print off an existing intermediate that was fully timed for theatrical. (This is all just guessing, of course.)

If they didn't have the fixes from the DVD version, I'd be surprised if they had any timing differences either. bigrob, did the prints you saw look different from our current evidence of the original timing (1st German DVD, 1st UK VHS, 35mm film cells)?

I got to say Zoidberg's VHS looks about the closest I've seen in video (well from seeing those pictures) to what I think T1 should look like, based on all the evidence I have collected. The movie should have a lot of green unlike the old BD/DVD but not to the level of the remastered BD or German DVD. Both of those are missing a lot of the blue the movie should still have.

Vaguely remember the print not looking like the recent Blu-Ray version (teal-o-Rama) but 100% recall it having the remixed audio because it had the dreaded gun noises changes

Ok, then I stand corrected. So those 2001 prints clearly were based on the 2001 remaster and are to be regarded with suspicion as to the color.

I had no idea there were prints with the remixed audio, that sucks. If a 35mm screening ever happens around here I hope we don't get one of those prints. Thankfully there are plenty of film cells of an original, mono print out there, so we have a good idea of what it looked like.

Zoidberg, did you get to see T1 in 35mm? I never heard you report back.

I did hear chater about a recent DCP that got shown in the USA during Genysis's release which corrected the gun noises on the remixed audio.

I'll have a look and see if i can find the post over at BD.com

Unfortunately not, much like the Matrix. The stars were very much not in alignment  Nothing2say

I have the hemmdale dvd first release for which I think looks a good representation of the film. It's a port of the Laserdisc and has the original mono soundmix on it but in lesser quality than a laserdisc. But it's the original version to an extent. Non Anamorphic. Arnies Dangly bit!
