Not completely original.
It has the work acknowledgement at the end credits. That was not on cinema.

Also keep in mind the Hemdale original letterbox LD is directly sourced from print material and has a slightly different look to the THX LD reissue which was an entirely new mastering.

Seems confirmed on LDDB as well: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/01669/ID29...inator-The
Quote:This disc is far superior to the old letterbox edition [ID8316HD]. Colors are far more natural and don't bleed as much, and the overall picture is darker (the first letterbox disc was way too bright). Also there are no cue marks, indicating that this transfer was from an inter-positive, not from a print like the older disc
Great find, captain!

I have the THX version (checked), and two duplicates (lost between hundreds titles in random order); they *should* be THX as well, but, watching the covers on LDDB, ***maybe*** one of them is NOT the THX... I strongly remember when I get the first dup, and exclaimed "hey, one cover is glossy and the other is matte!", so, again, ***maybe***... but don't hold your breath!

First, spoRv, you have to archive the T2 SQZ LD, before considering doing that T1 LD...

I had the THX Terminator laserdisc back in the day and I remember preferring the earlier release. I've got a feeling the THX was more 'processed' looking. Mine was a rotter as well which didn't help.

This is what Disclord had to say about the THX Laserdisc over on lddb:

"And it has that weird glitch as the title Terminator recedes, almost like the film was broken and missing a frame or they stopped the tape during the transfer and missed the insertion point when starting back up. The first THX DVD of it also has it since its a direct copy of the LaserDisc's D1 master tape."

"I've never thought the THX version was all that great, especially with that weird glitch on the Terminator title as it shrinks away. The theatrical prints had a much more "metallic" look to the image, but we're not overly blue in tone. As bad as the first HBO release is, pressing and print-wise, I think it's transfer captured the 'look' of the theatrical prints much better."

All these years or remastering and retouching and they never ever fixed the sliding title which suffers from misaligned layers. Not that they have to, but of all things...
