Too bad about not open matte - but if it's the same master we have 3 sources now - hello Median!
HD version of old Dobermann (1997) master?

Thanks for the scan!
So it indeed does have a higher bitrate. And the French audio track also has a different bitrate, so it's likely a little different to the existing ones (French & German release). Would be interesting to compare that one to the other ones (which also slightly differ).

Also the FPS is different.. 24 FPS (German and French) vs. 23,976 FPS (Japan).

Interesting indeed. Funny how so often the Japanese guys get it right while the others don't.
By the way, I also have the German DVD with the desired color timing now. spoRv has received a link, if anyone else wants to have a look, PM me.

Just discovered this never got any form of release over in the US... Wonder who owns the rights over here? It's definitely not Universal since they only have overseas rights inherited from Polygram.
This would be a decent fit for ether a Arrow top end edition or a smaller outfit like WellGo in the US, provided the US rights holder that has it works with labels or isn't like Lionsgate or Warner when it comes to licencing.

I believe the reason it has no US release is not a rights issue but due to the fact that back when this was released, it was considered very controversial.

Yeah, but far more controversial stuff (like Cannibal Holocaust and especially Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, which have ether been ourtight banned or heavily censored in other countries that showed Doberman uncut) have remained available in the US despite whatever groups went against it.

Fair argument - I don't understand the decisions then - maybe the devil was in the details who knows |
