[Help] The Keep (Michael Mann, 1983) – 35mm Scan
#11
I can ask a few collectors I know who may be interested in donating but they are not Fanres members? Have you any idea what the final delivery format will be ie HD, 4k etc? Also what level of restoration do you have planned? Looking forward to this if it works out.

Something I would love to get scanned but I imagine it’s quite rare is a 35mm print of fight for your life. The original negative was destroyed so the only chance of a HD transfer is from a print. Blue underground said they have tried a few but they haven’t been in good enough condition. Maybe one day ...

Please do ask your associates, after all, this isn't a FanRes exclusive (it is the most public version of the thread though). I hope to be able to deliver it in 4K though I'll have to wait and see when the scan comes in once we get to that point. As for restoration, I'll have to look into some stuff admittedly on the digital cleaning process, but in the very least I'll try to have the LD master fill in any missing frames and a few other basic things. We'll see how it all works out, but hey, in the worst case, at least a grindhouse release would likely look better than an LD upscale.

As for Fight For Your Life, I checked with the anonymous collector's inventory and sadly there isn't a print of it in there it seems, so sorry about that.

Sure I'll speak to a few people. Thanks for checking for Fight For Your Life. I did hear that Tarantino has a personal copy, maybe he’ll lend it to me Smile

Hey, I've never seen this film, though I would love to give a small helping hand in any form of film preservation. Could you put me down for £10?
Looking forward to the outcome!

Just an update! Only about $75 is needed left to fill the gap! Once we hit that point, I plan on DMing to everyone who has pledged a link to a PayPal Pool.

Just to know, how much will it probably take once you'll have all the donation?

Well not sure how long it'd take time-wise since the whole print needs to be shipped over to the scanner and the scanning process will take a while since each reel will need to properly encoded and whatnot. It'd take at least a month I'd imagine, though I hope to post some teaser stuff to keep people satiated.

so it will be a short time, I expected it to be somewhere like 6 months. Even if it takes a couple of month it should be quick.

Thanx Xavier
