[Request] Highlander US Theatrical Cut
#21
I'll keep an eye open in case it pops up here in the UK on Netflix or TV.

Cheers Zoidberg. Hopefully someone manages to grab it at some point.

If we could get the right materials together, I'd be all over doing the video editing for this.

I'm going to see if I can also get a capture of the broadcast that Servo mentioned, Chew.

Sorry, It's on Netflix Canada, I was watching it through a VPN.

I hope you can, according to moreflicks.com Highlander is no longer on Netflix.

I believe PDB told me he captured the Cinemax broadcast, and there are more opportunities this month.

I may still have to try to salvage my stuttering, possibly corrupted Encore recording as a logo removal source if the Cinemax and Encore logos show up at different times.

This February you can get Cinemax free for two weeks if your cable provider is anybody except TWC / Spectrum (which of course mine is). For $10 I can subscribe to Cinemax and cancel the next day but my AV Capture doesn't go anywhere near 1080p even in HD.

I tried it and you just can't get it exactly the same. The US Theatrical Version was edited using the master print.

For The Record : I prefer the US TV not only because it's the one I watched a thousand times but because I think the edits make sense (BLASPHEMY!). The flashbacks at Madison Square Garden are just plain confusing if you don't already know this guy's immortal plus they take away from that great cut back to 1536. Having a ruddy faced Yorkshire man play a character named "Iman Fasil" makes it difficult to suspend one's disbelief but watching him to backward flips is needlessly silly. The extended scene with Kate adds nothing but the sight of a burning cross and the word "clan" being thrown around doesn't help much either. The WWII stuff explaining how Connor met Rachel is simply distracting and unnecessary while the dual on Boston Commons loses its comic effect when Basset shoots his own 2nd in the back.

I realize to film-purists this is all heresy but "Highlander" is not the work of any one individual or "auteur". Everyone involved brought something to the table and sometimes you need an editor to come in and cut the extraneous material so the finished work accomplishes what it set out to do.

Assuming it is the BD, there's no need to get it exactly the same, just to use as much of it as possible and take video from the US theatrical for the rest.
