The Shout Factory BD of Amityville 3-D (1983) has a fine transfer (of an alternate version) that maintains the flaws that you'd see in an original 35mm print. Namely, it keeps the alignment errors that are part of the original photography. I aligned each shot to minimize vertical parallax, making the 3D easier on the eyes.

If anyone has access to the original titles and effects shots that are missing on this disc, I'd be up for revising this.

My first project here, but on my blog, it will be number 114.
I started this project a few months ago but at the same time, I was working on the Hannibal TV show edits.
That was a lot of work, so I did that first
So the project was going back on the self, and next week I put my hands on it again to finish it.
It's a two in one edition of Phantasm, Phantasm Oblivion, and some inserts of Phantasm II
The first idea was to do a two in one edition of Phantasm and Phantasm II but that didn't work because the part of Mike was done by another actor
Somehow it didn't work for me so I had to do something else with it
It's gonna be a two hours cut, in DTS 7.1 surround taking from blu-ray source, and somewhere in June it's done

I've been getting back into the LOTR trilogy lately and thanks to 44rh1n and Dwalin there are now options for both the first and second part of the trilogy.
(Although I know of a method that one could use to get a perfect color grading of the extended shots, but sadly I'm too ill and tired to work with such a project)

Now back on topic: You all probably know the Theatrical Blu-ray of TTT has tons of DNR. The sad part is the Extended version is also plagued by this in lots of scenes with smearing artifacts. It is so visible in outdoor scenes like when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are chasing the orchs that it sticks out like a sore thumb in this majestic trilogy.

I was wondering if there are any old HDTV broadcasts or Web-DL versions or similar, of either the Theatrical or Extended version of TTT that are free from this DNR?

As you can see, in some of these shots there's not just smearing but also halo artifacts and similar.
I want to know if there is any version free of this?
At the same time I kinda don't expect there to be one, seeing how they took this master and upscaled and put even more DNR on top of it for the 4K release!
Of course, that could just have been the good old laziness of movie companies, rather using automatic software without doing any quality control at all.

Project Info:

This project is more of a proof of concept of advancements in Digital Noise Reduction algorithms, and that DNR no longer needs to be considered a wholly destructive process. The algorithm I used for this can by found at https://arxiv.org/pdf/1811.12758.pdf which is a GPU-accelerated neural-network based non-local denoising algorithm.

I chose this movie for a couple reasons:

1. It was given a 4K HDR release relatively recently, meaning the film grain would be essentially losslessly preserved from the scan.
   
2. It's black and white, which reduces the processing power required by 2/3s relative to color film.
   
3. It's my favorite movie.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. I love Hong Kong cinema and came to this forum after learning that home video releases of many of the classics I love. Hope to be able to watch my favourite HK films as they were originally intended to be seen and make some new friends too! 

I'll be brief, I need help. I'm at my wits' end. I have this film Battletruck (aka 'Warlords of the 21st Century') in its only Blu-Ray release (from Japan!) which is a higher definition than previous VHS and DVD releases but the colors are terrible (Cineteca di Bologna style).
Color correction on Premiere doesn't help at all and I don't seem to get anywhere with Da Vinci Resolve either, I've tried for a long time but being not too familiar with it I didn't get any real result. Does anyone know if the colors "salvageable"? Maybe with the magical DrDre's tool? I have no idea. Anyone wants to take a stab at it? I could really use some help (if it's even possible to "save" it), because I really can't stand watching it with those colors but I don't know what to do. Plus I seem to be the only one who bought this film and it could use some "spreading" (but not in this form).

I compared it with a copy found on YouTube (from DVD or perhaps VHS) so you can see how wrong they are.
