[Cancelled] Mad Max 2/Road Warrior Regrade (Warner 97 DVD and LD)
Don't know if this has been brought up before, but apparently the Blu-ray of MM2 isn't quite the fully uncut Australian version.

In the HDTV version, the line "Do we wander the wasteland and become like them? Savages?" (in Italian, of course) is there, but spoken when Kid comes out from the hole, while the other lines are missing.

PDB, it's worth noting the closing Warner logo shown in one of these comparisons. That wasn't present on the LD master (the exit music simply ends on black) but it seems fitting for a theatrical recreation.

That logo was on VHS copies only as far as I remember. Not 100% certain.

Yes, the Pappagallo speech is cut on the Blu & DVD, I think it might be there only on the VHS copies. It was full in the cinemas. I have no clue why these cuts happened.

May the speech be present in the laserdisc as well?

Not sure, I think the LD master was the same as the DVD master (apart from encoding/authoring color fixes / changes)

I found my original HDTV rip from MM1 it's called Mad.Max.OAR.1979.720p.HDTV.x264-CtrlHD and it's OAR as mentioned.

It also sports the original colors of the film. Anyone want it as reference to correct the Warner Blu-ray master -- you talk to me Wink

I also have the original Pal DVD converted back to 23.976 which might be great to color match too.

If you need the HDTV version, let me know!

Ok thanks, spoRv. Not sure if or when I will regrade it but I figure if I'm doing 2 and mostly likely will fix 3 which has more color changes on blu-ray then people realize, might as well complete the circle and do MM also.

Does your HDTV look similar to Stamper's examples? If yes, can the HDTV just be released in stead of a regrade?

I might have to get a copy. Look at it myself.

Your link is the first DVD from Image, I don't remember but I think it might only have the australian mono track.

It's similar to the Warner european Pal disc which also only have mono languages.

They both have a color scheme same as the LD (same master)

Thanks for the info Stamper. Yeah, I had that image DVD which was I believe the same master as the image LD. I assume it looks like MGM or more pushed.

Speaking of the Australian track. Does anyone know if the Australian BD have the original Australian mono in loseless?

I don't know where I would even get those shots to fix them. Wasn't there a Japanese DVD that had those scenes in widescreen?

I just saw that. Like you said, Jonno, looks like neither the DVD or LD have that distributed tag on them. That tag also looks vertically distorted like the Bass logo for Road Warrior. So it might be genuine. Kind of looks genuine. Without video of that distributed by, I'm not sure I can recreate it. I don't know if its static or has some sort of motion. I could put a static image of it or repeat the opening Bass logo that Tass recreated. At least remove the new Warner logo at the end.

I will keep the exit music, I see no reason to get rid of it.

Maybe that VHS was pulled from a release print? Hence it have those unique shots.

Since the BD is from the OCN, I'm wondering if they not in the negative and those shots have been lost.

I might have to see if I can find that or get a copy from you Stamper.

My MM HDTV version has a color grading pretty close, almost equal to BD; it's cut for sure, but ***maybe*** could contain some frames not present on the BD - but it's hard to believe that... at least, it ***could*** have some Italian dialog lines cut from the BD - again, unlikely... at the end, maybe it will be simply useless, but... who knows? My MM HDTV was from a japanese broadcast. I will watch it tonight. It's pretty clean, but 720p. The Blu-ray has more picture on all sides.

Yes MM3 also have some differences, pretty weird since it looks a lot like the DVD.

Can PM you any master you want PDB

Yep I'd love a copy Stamper if at all possible.
