I remember, you were thrilled that there was this odd T1 DVD release in europe without the intro and time text burned into the video.

Ah alright, so it's just subtitled in German. Yeah I remember we discussed this before, I got excited for nothing
But I am glad if the DVD is a faithful representation of 35mm look!

It was not subtitled in GErman, it was narrated by a voice over in the original Mono, and on later DVD/BD Releases.
The textless Version only had it as subtiles, and they erased the audio narration from the audio stream.
The audio narration is the indication for the "never localized text" statement.

I have the same font as the original text card if you want to reconstruct it. All you would have to do is get hold of the european DVD with the textless footage, upscale it and add the text fading in for any foreign version. (Just take the text from the subtitles).

We are already onto that (me and Leo). We did get the textless DVD, merging the two sources is proving harder than expected but we'll get there eventually.
For the Italian font we had to get a guy to re-do it from scratch because Heinlein just wasn't close enough to the Italian 35mm reference, but once the "blank" version in HD is ready I guess we can have fun using the US font to create apocryphal French and German versions for a digital release

Has a Spanish version been created yet? Because if not, I was hoping to do some work on the Spanish slide based on the Latino dub audio.
