Looking for "The Terminator" (1984) theatrical color grading [FOUND]

I'm saving ebay images of 35mm film cells as they pop up, the more reliable ones at least. Trying to get as much 35mm reference as possible.

I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy.

Save anything from ware_electronics. His images are the best lit and highest-quality (others might be higher resolution but they are incorrectly illuminated).

He also has/had cells of Aliens and plenty of other movies. Again, check completed listings, they go back several months. (Some may come from trailers, though. For stereo films, inspect the soundtrack to make sure the two waveforms are unique, and for scope films make sure the image is squeezed.)

No, the T1 cells are not from trailers. There are scenes which did not appear in the trailers (the end scene with Sarah in the jeep was surely not in the trailer - when I first found this seller, I compared the frames up for sale against all the theatrical trailers). I've saved a bunch in the past months, didn't I put a Google Drive link earlier in the thread? If not, I can repost it.

That said, this seller does have cells which do come from trailers (the Batman movies, the BTTF sequels). But most of the Terminator 1+2, Aliens, etc. cells are from original prints that were chopped up.

Anything T1 from ware_electronics is from the actual film. Turn on Completed listings for tons more.

And here's my Google Drive folder: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxdZ9w...UxkODRqY1k

I was kinda left with the conclusion that the current blu-ray is by far the closest with some shots being dead on. I'll have to dig up my notes but the 35mm frames were teal in many places. It seemed the blu went too green and should of been more blue in some spots so there is some latitude for correction there.

I'll try to get some examples and info for you Evit.

Some shots would be

Hi guys this may be old news but I've just capped and uploaded the original UK VHS release of The Terminator (VVD422, released by Virgin). I think it's from a release print, it's got cue marks and no Harlan Ellison credit at the end. There's lots of blue and lots of green. The Hi-Fi mono is surprisingly aggressive although the tape is a bit weathered and there are drop-outs. IMHO it's a surprisingly satisfying watch despite being early VHS, it's steely and gritty like it should be.
I've slowed the cap down to 23.976, cropped the junk at the edges and resized to 480p. The audio is 48kHz FLAC. MKV File, 2.7GB. This is by no means a preservation, just an additional perspective as to what the original timing might have been.
I'll keep this uploaded until I need the space. PM for links
