You can really see the magenta in the white shirts on the before shots next to these regrades. That's an interesting idea. I guess its effectiveness would work only if the level of red in the different HD masters is fairly consistent. If I were to use this LUT I would grade the whites more towards "white" instead of green-teal of the 35mm. Making it more neutral. Let me work on it and see what I can do. I'm going to spin this off into its own thing since this conversation has grown big enough and I have done enough work to warrant its own thread: https://fanrestore.com/thread-1814.html In the meantime I still need to finish syncing that Japanese PCM track for DH2.

Well, I just liked the inside of the police van better in V2, but I guess we have to compromise using a unique LUT (whatever that stands for) for the entire movie. Yes, please, apply it to the whole film so I can see it in motion and get back to you.

Yeah basically this color should equal this color.

BTW I recently saw a studio print of Speed this year. Absolutely amazing.
The BD is pretty good and the best video version but the blacks are nowhere near as deep as the print. The print has deep blacks and more saturation in the color-particularly reds and oranges and deeper duller tones of the grays/blue/blacks in the buildings and subway. The print's ac3 was shot so they ran the SR. The LD PCM sounds like a video remix and is toned down I think. The DVD 5.1 and BD hdma sounds identical and I'd like to find the LD with ac3 as it's supposedly coded as 5.0.
Damn Fool Idealistic Crusader
The LD PCM is pretty dynamic, more so than the blu ray DTS-MA.
Supposedly the 5.0 track is on the first DVD release, there's some debate whether the LFE track should/should not be present. It's Waterworld all over again. IDK if the DTS LD has the LFE channel, it's a bit pricey to blind buy. The AC3 LD is tricky to come by as packaging wise it's nearly identical but for a different catalogue number. Edit:Clarification
