How to protect our custom artwork?
Posted by: Jetrell Fo - 2017-09-08, 02:43 AM - Forum: General technical discussions - No Replies

After a small project scare today I noticed that custom artwork from fanres shows up on Google. Is there a way to keep this from happening?

  Poita's THX-1138 "as-is" 35mm scan?
Posted by: deleted user - 2017-09-07, 06:28 PM - Forum: Official and unofficial releases - Replies (7)

Here's a link to the thread I found this in: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/THX-113...n/id/49918

Here's the quote: "Poita recently released a file containing the whole scan as-is, and I took this and made an English version."

Is this true? If so, where did Poita release this "whole scan as-is"? I'd be very interested in having that.

Alien: Covenant IMAX [Fundamental Collection]

Original title: Alien: Covenant
Original runtime: 2h02m02s
Source: Blu-ray (for widescreen shots); Korean IPTV and Russian WEB-DL (for open matte & IMAX shots)
Video processing: combined Korean and Russian IMAX and open matte shots to get best quality; 35mm grain plate
Audio processing: none
Video format: x264 1920x1080 23.976fps VAR (widescreen OAR 2.40:1, IMAX and open matte 1.78:1)
Audio format: DTS-HD MA 7.1 English; DTS 5.1 French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian; DD 2.0 224kbps English commentary
Subtitles: YAO black bars, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian (movie); French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian (commentary)
Chapters: 24
Release notes: the amount of IMAX shots is around 12.5m while open matte shots total around 3m
YAO subtitles hack: this kind of subtitle overlay black bars on selected shots; it was tested on MPV and SMPlayer and may work even on hardware Blu-ray players; to have both black bars and another subtitle, you should use SMPlayer with YAO as first subs track, and the selected language as second subs track
Release format: BD-25 folder

Robocop 1:66.1 AR 35mm print for sale on ebay

I know for a lot of fans this is a big deal. I've read so many message board threads among various sites that focus on the AR on this film. The guy who posted that thread ain't getting any hits, so I figured this site has fans that'll take notice Wink

  Scarface background score

Is anyone able to extract the background score for Scarface? I tried it, but the result still has some chatter echoing. Would anyone be able to clean it up?

Am I crazy for using HDCRT still?
Posted by: captainsolo - 2017-09-05, 10:58 PM - Forum: General technical discussions - Replies (21)

I use a beautiful Sony XBR960 HDCRT which is somewhere around 1450x1080i. It can't do 24p nor 1080p. Everything else autoscales to 1080i, but the SD comb filter is truly amazing and all SD looks wonderful. The blacks are absolutely pitch due to the SFP tube. Color is deep and wonderful. It does have annoying phosphor trails from phosphor lag.

So am I nuts for still using this as my main monitor? I've never found anything affordable to beat it despite the age and its downsides. I'd love a high end plasma but they are hard to come by still in good shape.

I'd like to have something to do 1080p 24p to get the absolute best out of BD but have no idea what really compares.

Hello,

For all our new members, welcome to Fanres, we hope you enjoy your stay.

This thread is designed for you to ask questions before you start posting. One thing I highly recommend is reading the rules first. It should be able to answer most queries. That being said there are still nuances with what we do here that well might need some clarification and this would be the place to get it. We have a great bunch of people here and a lot of good honest work goes in to the projects that are taken on by our members. Please respect each other. There is more than enough room for all to participate in and donate to projects if needed. Thanks to all my fellow site members, you all rock!!!

Okay ... time for questions. Bring it on.

[proposal/request] 35mm scan of German animated movie "Felidae"
Posted by: deleted user - 2017-08-31, 07:23 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (18)

This is one of my favorite animated movies but it was only ever released on DVD.

It's kind of a very adult and bloody thriller thing, but the protagonist is a cat.

Doesn't look like the company that produced it is still in business either, so a Blu Ray release at any point is rather improbable. I think there may be some 35mm prints out there, at least for rental. Would be nice to have this movie in HD.

I don't really have any money nor scanning equipment, but maybe someone else can and wants to look into this.

Showgirls - Remastered Open Matte - Cinema Polish

Video sourced from both HDTV (1080i - thanks maksnew!) and original US Bluray - BD video was overlaid HDTV where it was possible (99% of the movie), HDTV was filtered, deinterlaced and deblocked as much as source allowed (there are still some MPEG2 compression blocks in some places). Afterwards, video was color corrected by spoRv (thank you!) - slightly demagenta'd.

Audio tracks were sourced from various sources and are as follows:
- English 5.1 (DTS-HD @ 1536 kbps)
- English 2.0 (AC3 @ 224 kbps)
- Spanish 2.0 (AC3 @ 224 kbps)
- French 2.0 (AC3 @ 224kbps)
- German 5.1 (DTS @ 1536 kbps)

- Portuguese 2.0 (AC3 @ 192 kbps)
- Polish 5.1 (AC3 @ 448 kbps)
- Russian 5.1 (DTS-HD @ 1536 kbps)
- Japanese 2.0 (AC3 @ 384 kbps)
- English Commentary by David Schmader 2.0 (AC3 @ 224 kbps)
