As Tax-Free Weekend approaches, I'm sensing another opportunity to grab a new computer. As I'm hoping to use it for restoration purposes, I'd like a general idea of what I'm going to need, in terms of CPU processing power, RAM, storage, GPU, display color accuracy, display brightness, etc.

I've discovered yesterday that there is a nice version of Silent Hill, found in the French BD as PIP, that shows film before any color timing! Never encountered this thing before, so it would be nice to use it as reference to make a special, non-theatrical color grading!

Got few seconds to test it, and result is quite nice; still don't know how the CGI parts (luckily not too many, it seems) will look like, though...

Hi, I was wondering if others think current HEVC GPU-assisted encoders are as good or better than H.264 encoders?

I have a feeling the HEVC GPU-assisted encoders are good now. I also think some people say they don't like H.265 because they don't have a good-enough rig to play H.265.
