  [proposal] Lawnmower Man director's cut
Posted by: phoenixman426 - 2016-07-22, 09:03 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (13)

Actually the Lawnmower Man director's cut is infamous for making the movie from
a good movie to a great one. There's 40 MINUTES of new footage. I love this version
but the laserdisc is unfortunately like the only perfect version of it. I think it was put
out on DVD but if I recall something was wrong with it, maybe improper aspect ratio, etc.

I don't have the ability to rip laserdiscs but since I own these rare discs, I would be willing
to work with someone who can to get the job done. Dr. Caligari 1989 is extremely rare.
Lawnmower Man Director's Cut isn't as rare but it's good and if I remember, there are 2
director's cuts on laserdisc, one that's cropped/fullscreen and the other which is in the
correct aspect ratio. I have the one that's in the correct aspect ratio.

EDIT: Actually yes, the DVD of Lawnmower Man director's cut is absolutely terrible.
Here is a review of it. It's in 4:3 aspect ratio!!! WTF were they thinking?!?!?

http://dvd-fever.co.uk/the-lawnmower-man...d-release/

The widescreen DC laserdisc is the only proper version of the film.
As for the 35mm, it would be cool to have but it's still the inferior theatrical cut where they took
40 MINUTES out of the movie. Again, the DC laserdisc widescreen is the only version to see imho.

There have been numerous laserdisc versions as well.

I have this one: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/07437/ID32...al-Edition
It's the only one that's uncut plus a special 1.85:1 widescreen transfer, THX audio and commentary track.

This one is seen alot but it's 4:3 (WHY would they put this out?!?!) -
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/21675/7589...ctor's-Cut
as well as this one from Japan which is uncut but 4:3 as well -
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/33367/MGLC...er-Man-The

And there are at least 3 laserdiscs of the theatrical version, including one widescreen version.

There are 2 dvd versions, one is widescreen but theatrical and the other is the uncut version
but 4:3 and also with horrible picture quality. (Reviewed above.)

I am willing to mail these laserdiscs to someone who can properly rip from fiber optic the digital
audio and from SVIDEO the best quality of video but I want to make sure it's someone who is
trusted by forum members and who I can therefore trust. This is what I'm able to contribute.Cool

Hi all. i wanted to introduce myself and do so in a manner that doesn't sound too much like a craigslist personals ad. I'm just your normal, average film freak... just another 44 year old guy who still buys Star Wars toys and had no qualms spending as much money on my home theater screening room as I spent on the rest of our home. It's all about priorities.

  Trainspotting Criterion LD Audio
Posted by: The Aluminum Falcon - 2016-07-17, 08:15 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

As seen here (https://fanrestore.com/thread-1011-post-...l#pid20081), I'm working on recreating the uncensored version of Trainspotting with the superior (albeit censored) Lionsgate HD master. That being said, I'd like to include the original theatrical audio if possible.

Does anyone perchance own this Criterion Collection release of Trainspotting (http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/07580/CC14...al-Edition)?

If so, is the audio (either the LPCM 2.0 or the DD 5.1) worth preserving as more theatrically accurate? The Lionsgate BD sounds good taken on its own, but I'm not too familiar with the film's audio history. Cry

Thanks guys!

  Trainspotting: Uncensored
Posted by: The Aluminum Falcon - 2016-07-17, 08:07 AM - Forum: Released - Replies (27)

Project Info

When Lionsgate finally released Trainspotting on Blu-Ray in the U.S., fans were dismayed to find that two shots of sex and drugs, respectively, were censored, replaced with alternative material. Apparently, the use of this cut version was a complete error (albeit one that was never resolved); the US DVD previously had the uncensored version of Trainspotting. A comparison can be seen here: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=912549 (WARNING: NSFW photos).

However, the new US Lionsgate BD had what international BDs (JP, DE, CA, UK) of Trainspotting lacked- a brand new HD transfer, which truly looked better than anything previously released.

This project aims to recreate the uncensored version of Trainspotting, reinserting the uncut material from one of the international BDs into Lionsgate's HD transfer. The uncut shots will be color-corrected to match the BD. I tried to generate interest for this project about two years ago on ot.com, but finally feel confident that I have developed the skills to pull it off on my own.  Smile

Laserdisc audio on Bluray - LPCM or FLAC?
Posted by: Colek - 2016-07-12, 12:04 PM - Forum: General technical discussions - Replies (4)

What do you think? Should I convert the LPCM track into FLAC? It is Bluray compilant and would save space on the disc.

Altering the functionality of a Bluray menu button.
Posted by: Booshman - 2016-07-11, 03:47 PM - Forum: Converting, encoding, authoring - Replies (7)

I wonder if anyone knows how I can change the functionality of buttons within a bluray menu?

I have created a bluray menu in Encore, only to come up against the hurdle of being allowed 8 audio tracks maximum. I know I can add additional tracks after the bluray is compiled, which I can navigate to with the audio selection button on the remote, but they will have no means of selection from the menu.

I want to be able to add buttons for the extra audio tracks to the menu, and link them to one of the 8 that I am allowed in Encore as a placeholder. Then add the additional audio tracks after the disc is compiled. After this, I want to redirect the buttons to the newly added audio tracks.

I'm not sure if this is possible. I know how to alter the appearance of buttons with bdedit, but not what they do.

If you can help, please chime in, I would really appreciate it.

Hey,

Does anyone have remote for that player for sale? Or could tell me what remote could I get as replacement to get all the same functionality?
