[proposal] Robocop - Theatrical Cut

The Sony has a little more picture info above 235 that can be pulled back, must have been an encoding error. It's still clipped though, just not as bad

Same as ghostbusters and a few others, it was Sony's style for a while

Beyond my abilities but think you're probably right - if anyone is capable of this please feel free to take over!

So I got the Sony release as I prefer the TC too. I was wondering if it could be interesting to take the 4.0 soundtrack from the re-release, and recut and sync it to the TC. Or not worth the hassle if it sounds just like the 5.1.

Also, if anyone has ripped an LD 2.0 soundtrack of the TC, it could be cool to sync it to this release.

I don’t have the LD but I have the Image Entertainment DVD which has the 2.0 mix. Smile

I checked on OT, and comments says the 4.0 is pretty similar to the 5.1. It's probably a downmix...
I think Jonno did a while back a rip of the LD mix, but can't seem to find any mention here. Maybe he ripped the Criterion, and not the TC cut as this was synced to the 4K remaster.
Since the Criterion is the DC I won't sync the audio of it to the Sony, however if someone got the TC LD sound, PM me!
Criss is the DVD the TC or DC? If it's the TC I'm interested in that sound too.
Is there a way I could replace a content on the Sony disc with the 4:3 HDTV without playing with the menus? Ie get rid of a bonus and make it link to the 4:3 instead.
It could be cool to have the Sony disc also offering the open matte version Smile

The 2007 DVD had both the TC and DC. It's been a while since I checked both mixes but I do remember the 5.1 and 4.0 tracks sounding very similar so yeah maybe that might not be the best plan. The Image Entertainment DVD is the TC. Additionally the 2001 DVD by MGM is also the TC and has a 5.1 track but since you have the Sony BD the MGM disc is probably useless. I also have the iTunes version which is the TC and I think has the 2.0 track although perhaps its been updated in recent years (I think I bought in like 2010). As far as replacing stuff on the Sony disc not entirely sure.

I also discovered that the version on Vudu is the same blown out and EE'd master of R-Rated cut as the Sony BD (Vudu's compression isn't the best, but considering that release sported an MPEG-2 encode, PQ wouldn't be much different in the long run). The Terminator on Vudu also uses the older MGM HD master as used on the MGM DVD and the 1st Sony BD (with a stereo folddown of the 5.1 remix).

Is the RT remux of the Sony BD still active or dead?
