Thank you for reminding me of this film, I am going to watch it, however I like director's cuts and think I will enjoy the DC more than the TC. Also, it seems the 4X3 version may be opened-up a lot. I wonder if a 4X3 DC DVD was ever released...

I have possibly the best copy of the theatrical cut available (thanks fabrebatalla18 ), it's a 1:1 copy from Amazon Prime Video (WEB-DL). The file has a size of 14 Gb and is encoded with x264 (crf 18), the audio is encoded in Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 (640 kbps). It's not available on the web and will be used exclusively for this project.
I have sent a copy to spoRv

I love extended and director's cut, and to date, this may be the only film I refused to keep in that format.
Also, I was just thinking, it may pay to wait.
If other releases are any indication, when this gets a 4k release it is more likely to be the theatrical cut.
Studios just tend to be stupid when they make new cuts and don't plan for new formats. As a result they end up going the cheaper route of using the theatrical cut again.

spoRv, can you give an estimate on when your cut will be complete...like in 2017 or 2018? I'm looking for something realistic.
Frankly, the Director's cut blows. It throws the ENTIRE rhythm of the movie off. I don't care about Costner's ego. The Theatrical Cut was just better story telling.
It's mind boggling how 11 minutes can make or break a movie.

Hi spoRv,
sky aired the long version yesterday. I didn't check the EPG before so I didn't cap it, but I recorded some minutes within to get a quality impression.
They will air it again on new years day.
Here is a snap of the scene you already did a comparison of, let me know what you think:

Haven't compared it with others, but I say to record it anyway, because if it's with no logo it will be used to delogo the others.
