Sliver (1993) 35mm Trailer scanning - Needs funding | UPDATE
Posted by: bendermac - 2015-06-10, 03:01 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (3)

https://imdb.com/title/tt0108162/

The trailer for Sliver has never been released on LD/DVD/BD. A copy from a VHS made it's way on the internet a long time ago and the quality is pretty bad. So using that as source for trailer reconstruction was out of the question. BUT I've found a 35mm copy of trailer a while ago and now it lies just around. So here I'm asking who can help to get this trailer scanned. This includes helping with shipping cost and of course someone willing to scan it.

Jurassic Park Trilogy 35mm Teasers & Trailers
Posted by: bendermac - 2015-06-10, 02:55 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (36)

It always bugged me that Universal never added the trailers in HD on the Blu-ray. Heck they even omitted the Teasers from part 1 and 2. So here I'm asking if we can get the trailers for these movies from 35mm prints... if price are reasonable. The Teasers could be expensive Sad
But maybe someone here already has them Wink

Anyway... what do you guys think?

Hi all,

Registered here a while ago but never introduced myself, I guess. Came here from the OT forums, where I mainly follow Harmy, Mike Verta, Team Negative-1, and now DrDre's projects. Dre's superresolution experiments have had particularly exciting results in the last few weeks. As far as editing goes I've done a few little projects for myself, but I've recently shared a version of THX-1138 that I compiled based on the 1971 16mm film, blu-ray, and laserdisc. Might have a couple other things in the works. Thanks for having us here!

Big Grin Hey there!

Hello everyone... I'm new here.

I've worked on some DVD edits in the past of Kill Bill Vol. 1&2 Uncut, an Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness cut I dubbed "THE mediEVIL DEAD" (with alternate cuts throughout) and a fixed version of Skinny Puppy's 'Ain't It Dead Yet?' (v3.1). I've been a member on OT for some time now and heard about this site via Team_Negative1's project. Personally I can't wait to see it! Big Grin

I've noticed I'm not able to do much of anything on here yet... is there a reason for that? Thanks!

OK, I must admit this film has more than a flaw... CGI is... well, atrocius? And green screen worst, acting bad, story thin... so, why one would want to see it? Well, the redhead is simply gorgeous! Wink And, at the end, it's a Z-movie that many fans will enjoy, I'm pretty sure... but first, read some seriuos reviews!

Lightbulb Splitting the encoding in various phases...
Posted by: spoRv - 2015-06-10, 12:41 AM - Forum: Converting, encoding, authoring - No Replies

...is better than do just the final encode - at least using Avisynth, but I think it could be the same for other softwares, too.

Why?

  1. Time: incredibly, splitting the works in further encodes speed a lot the whole process - for example, an avisynth script may involve source loading, color correction, grain plate; if you put the whole process in a single file, and encode it, it will take a certain time, while splitting it in three parts, may take a lot less time, from half to a quarter
  2. Crash: everything could happen during a conversion that lasts for days... black outs, PC freeze, cat that detach the power cable - it could happen! Wink At the contrary, if you split your encoding work in several phase, you will eventually lose just a fraction of that time
  3. Power: a part electric power sparing - that will be not that much, but is there, you could also use a not-so powerful PC that is unable to do a complicated script, but can do small simpler things when you split the files in parts.
Of course, do not forget to use only lossless codecs - and the right colorspace - and delete them ONLY when you are sure you will not need them anymore... you have been warned! Smile

Did you like District 9? And Elysium? Robots in general? So, wait no further, go to see this movie!

The director knows the style - even if, I must admit, follows the same rules of previous films, but it worked for the others, and worked here, too! Story is great, acting too, the only thing that let me say "mmh" is the big Moose robot, that recalls clearly ED-209 from the original Robocop - anyone said that! But, apart this little "accident" (probably just an homage the director wanted to make to THE police+android movie) the film is great... really!

  Free Money
Posted by: spoRv - 2015-06-10, 12:22 AM - Forum: Movies, TV shows and other - Replies (6)

Few days ago I was laying on the couch, like every other potato couch like me, waiting to find a good thing to watch on TV, when suddenly I found a new movie which was starting... OK, let's see the title... "Free money"... mmh, a movie that I've never seen, strange... let's see the actors... mmh, it seems nice, let's give it a try...

Well, one and half hour well spent; a nice little comedy, that made me smile quite frequently; the story is good, the acting too, Charlie Sheen with his face-without-expressions did his job very nicely, and... Marlon Brando... was bigger than life! (pun intended)

Should we be a bit more "closed"?!?
Posted by: spoRv - 2015-06-10, 12:15 AM - Forum: Bug reports and suggestions - Replies (21)

Wait, let me first explain!

There are good sites around, that are invitation-only - I don't want to do it!
But some recent spam activity alerted me to the fact that maybe we are a little too "open"... Wink

So, I thought - and talked with some members about this - maybe it's time to close us, just a bit... for example, to force the users to make a presentation before posting in other forums; to hide project forums until a new user reach a minimum post number, let's say 5 or 10 - a spammer will not lose time to post more than once or twice, so it could be a simple but effective method to get rid of such elements...

These are some ideas that, frankly, I'm not even sure it could be fully implemented in the forum, right now, but hey, there were the first things that came to my mind.

What do you think?

Brainstorming, guys (gals?), brainstorming! Big Grin

  Hello

Hello,
I am new to this forum. I tried to introduce myself over at OT, but nobody responded. I am very interested in fan edits of movies, especially Star Wars.

I am intrigued by film preservation including 8mm copies. This seems to be a closed community with invites to places like my spleen, or the AMPS society that is invitation only. It seems this site is a little smaller and less intimidating.

Anyway cheers.
