[in progress] Zack Snyder's Justice League - Reframed
Posted by: Gieferg - 2021-03-30, 06:32 PM - Forum: In progress - Replies (23)

Ok, so there's another ZSJL project, I am workin' on it for a few days.

As a widescreen lover I wasn't initally all that happy with Snyder's vision in which the movie was presented in 4:3. After two viewings I can say it's not that bad and surely more interesting than standard 1.78:1 presentation of theatrical cut. But that doesn't change the fact I'd like to be able watch that movie in AR matching previous films (just as was the case with first Avengers). So I started working on reframing whole thing to theatrical 2.35:1 (or something close to it) aspect ratio which of course means we see about a half of the picture. But, that is the important part of the picture and after watching some scenes in that form I'm quite certain I will watch that more often than Snyder's preferred 1.33:1 version.

As the addition, I've tweaked colors a little bit (a little less green, a little more red) and if the 5.1 audio tracks allow it, I'm thinking about a little bit of re-scoring as I didnt really like Junkie XL' music. But even if I'll do that, it would be only an optional bonus track.  Also, there will be some cuts to few pointless scenes -  everything after shirt rip scene, and "certain Martha scene", as I think those do not really belong in that movie.

Zack Snyder's Justice League - "Ridiculous Edit"
Posted by: deleted user - 2021-03-29, 08:23 PM - Forum: Released - Replies (7)

This non-fan edit aims to make Zack Snyder's Justice League a ridiculous, incoherent and boring movie. Since ZSJL is a really excellent movie, it's pretty challenging, so it's of academic interest. It follows in the footsteps left in the swamp of ridiculousness by masterpieces such as "Star Wars - Episode I: The Ridiculous Menace"

Incomplete list of changes:
- Make the colors look really boring and Marvel-ish
- Add silly jokes that completely ruin the atmosphere
- Exchange the dynamic soundtrack for something really sluggish, out of place and not in sync with the picture for maximum effect of ridiculousness.
- Cut off the beautiful picture to fit 16:9
- Cut the movie down to 2 hours
- Remove anything that gives depth or coherence to the story, such as buildup, character background, any form of emotional satisfaction
- Basically just cut from scene to scene as fast as possible to make the movie feel hurried and like it doesn't take itself seriously
- Make some strange color changes
- Generally lots of little edits throughout the movie that just generally make it more sh*tty

This project is released under the name "Justice League (2017)" and you can watch it here.

Thanks!

Video The Shining (1980) - Zemastered Edition

Check out the International Cut here!

The Shining - Zemastered Edition v3.1

Project Trailer:

Description:
Quote:I was disappointed, but not surprised to see that the 1972 Warner Bros logo was not restored on the 4K release. This sparked a simple project to recreate the logo, and add it to the start of the film. Soon after I started working on this project, I discovered the ABC broadcast from 1985 and the 1991 Laserdisc have blue credits at the end. I felt it gave the credits an even more unnerving feeling, so I added it back to the film.

The shots with snow are very white in the 4K remaster. When I was watching the 4K remaster, I always thought the snow should be shifted more blue instead of being sharply white. The 2007 Blu-ray had too much blue in my opinion, but I don’t think it should be eradicated completely.

What is the best version of this?
I have the BD that sadly has only the 5.1 remix in lossy Dolby

Is there a 4k or an HD in mono?

  4GB WAV file limit?
Posted by: NeonBible - 2021-03-28, 04:45 PM - Forum: Converting, encoding, authoring - Replies (5)

Converting a 5.1 AC3 track to WAV is giving me errors in both ffmpeg and eac3to due to reaching its file limit.

The result still seems to play correctly, but looks like the headers are screwed and media players can't determine its correct length.

What is the correct way to convert multi-channel audio to WAV? Or is it possible to fix the headers?

Apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything with search.

Tools for syncing subtitles to video
Posted by: NeonBible - 2021-03-26, 08:22 PM - Forum: Audio and video editing - Replies (6)

What's the best way to create and sync SRT subtitles to video?

I usually use Subtitle Workshop or SubtitleEdit to make minor corrections, small delays and FPS conversions etc.

They both support video playback with the subtitles however the experience is pretty awful. The video sync is not exact and I found playing back the sub in a media player it is off by as much as a second. I would then have apply a delay to compensate. On top of that, seeking through the video is unreliable and doesn't playback at the point I want it to and I have to constantly adjust.

Is this kind task normally done in a pro video editor? Unfortunately my laptop isn't very good and doesn't have much space on the primary HDD, so something like Davinci Resolve is out of the question.

Video Why does Mid90s look so dark?
Posted by: jee - 2021-03-26, 02:09 PM - Forum: Movies, TV shows and other - Replies (4)

Hey! New member here.

I watched Mid90s the other day and I'm wondering why the Blu-ray transfer looks so underexposed? Is it a result of filming on 16mm film?

Beyond the Poseidon Adventure 1981 Extended Television Broadcast
Posted by: simpjake1999 - 2021-03-24, 02:25 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (1)

Hi, I’ve been on the hunt for the extended television cut of Beyond the Poseidon Adventure for a few years and haven’t been able to find it. One person did tell me it was on MySpleen but I don’t have an account. Is there anyone who can help me out with obtaining the file and sending it over to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jake.
