[Canceled] Aliens TV Cut and Theatrical Regrade (Fox THX Laserdisc)
Makes me want BMD's stuff even more, if that's part of your proprietary ColorMatch process.

Black Magic Design. Someone recommended it to me when I said I was planning to do some color grading work with my new computer, as soon as I decided what to get.

ETA: Just so you know, I was confused at first, too.

I have an opportunity to see Aliens at the cinema tomorrow, but it will be a digital projection. Has anyone seen the DCP? If it's just the BD master again I don't think I'll bother.

It's the same master without the greenish tint. Go.

Really? How interesting. One wonders how these decisions are made - I recall that the DCP of Star Trek II was also much more agreeable in comparision to the then-current BD.

Thanks Stamper.

Stamper is right. I've seen the DCP a few times and it's the same master minus the green. All the fixes are there.

Great. I meant Monday, so I'll let you know how I find it then!

This seems like a trend. An unrelated example: I remember seeing the theatrical screenings of the LOTR EE trilogy in summer 2011, then reading all the complaints about the FOTR:EE BD having too much green and wondering what they were talking about. I remember seeing the screenshots, thinking "that's not what I remember it looking like at the Fathom screening", and just assuming I wasn't paying close enough attention or that my eyes adjusted to it in the darkened theater. Then I heard about the Aliens and Terminator DCPs having less green, and now I wonder if FOTR:EE also doesn't have the blanket green in the DCP version.

Didn't one of you theorize this could have to do with incorrect color space conversion from DCP to BD?

Just posted an Aliens grain plate - maybe could be useful for some projects.
