I Just bought the Alien Anthology Box set... Yeah a little late to the party on that one.

I Think it would be very Cool to make a custom version of Aliens. I won't say fan edit as such but an expanded TV cut which is uncensored.

I am glad you got back on this anyway. I take it that is the Laserdisc version then.

Just google it. It's easy to re-assemble without re-encoding.

It is easy to assemble! Though, FYI, don't download the one on MySpleen. It's missing large chunks of dialogue due to combining different tracks (the 4.0 theatrical and the isolated score on extended?).

Oh yes, just to add, when you select the tracks, only use the 5.1 tracks. The 4.0 is the TC only so you can't add it to the TV cut.

No I mean adding and extending it further in parts with some of the cut material and snippets, never mind I am looking forward to the 35mm version regrade anyway just to see what PDB gets.

Ok I Just had a bit of a brainwave and here it is...

The film opens with the trailer Landscape footage and Logo of Aliens.

Cut to Hadleys Hope newts Tale whatever you want to call it from the Special edition that plays out in full to face Hugger on newts Parents.

Cut to Ripley in Escape craft being discovered.

This I think is the workprint order and It makes a lot of sense thinking about it. Not sure it's something you want to do but I'll log it for the sake of Figuring stuff out...

Hope you like the idea... Perfect Version perhaps? Resume uncensored TV Cut with a few extras perhaps?

Looking at the Logo I would assume fade in from black Landscape footage pan across then "newts tale" and the credits start after the face hugger on Newts Parents. So it's a prologue... Also bear in mind there might be a bit of an overlap newt screaming and the black screen where the music starts so it blends and you kind of also get a bit of restored music to the screaming newt scene.

I think I'm going to resurrect this project. I was going through my files while working on MM2/RW and had a desire to finish this and another Aliens project to go with it. The plan it to finish the TV Cut/LD grade and then do a theatrical cut using all the 35mm materials I have gathered. For now the TV cut is rendered in Lag AVI and I need to sync the PCM soundtrack but I did a lot of tweaking to the original project, particularly with curves. For now, MM2 and Blade Runner 2.0 are still my priorities at the moment.

BD/LD Regrade

Still plugging away on some MM2 details so I bumped this up to go first. I dumped the existing AVI file because I had two sequences that matched the LD very well (Ripley and Newt facehugger scene and escaping the Queen) but when watching I noticed they were very inconstant shot to shot. So I decided to smooth them out and will render a new file. I have to sync the PCM after that...

Aliens Theatrical Cut will be my 4th 35 project using the 35mm frames as a guide.

Interesting enough I was going through this project. It's nearing completion and I was looking at the scratches on the windows that Cameron digitally took out. For reference, this is what I'm talking about:
